    Unavoidable Bicycle Badger Collision

Sounds like your wrist has healed very well, apart from the lump - do you have to use a larger watch strap? I've never heard of a hot wax vat, was that done in hospital or do you use beeswax from your bees? I could try melting some candles... or an infrared light (physio said to avoid...

    Unavoidable Bicycle Badger Collision

My bike is nearly ready for the road - I think there is a slight buckle in the front wheel, which I'll have to sort out, I've replaced the smashed light and replaced it with a terrifying very bright one. The front mudguard was bent and rubbing on the front wheel, now straightened. No cracks to...

    Unavoidable Bicycle Badger Collision

On the bright side, if it is a steel implant, I can stick a neodymium magnet to it to hold screws when doing repairs :) (if it doesn't pull screws out)

    Unavoidable Bicycle Badger Collision

Ouch! Can you do pressups? Did you have a plate installed? One of the surgeons said that wrists are very weak, but it'll be much stronger when reinforced with a plate. I'd heard varying reports about plates, someone I know has one in his foot and can only walk about a mile before agonising...

    Unavoidable Bicycle Badger Collision

Did you break your wrist cycling? How did it happen? Was it a badger? That's you, me, Jodel and nealh with broken or fractured wrists so far (I think). I can now manage about 30 degrees bent back, but the Consultant told me to avoid that stretch. I did wonder if it was because the screws...

    Protective wear

I wonder how heavy that is? The trouble with motorcycle jackets is that they are usually a slim-fit, restricting movement, but if you go up a size the chest and shoulders are too large. Otherwise I might use one. I'd definitely try it on for size first in a physical shop, before ordering the...

You're right, skateboard wrist supports look too chunky to get a decent grip. Maybe someone will make something a little thinner and more flexible for cycling use, that provides strong enough protection. https://www.amazon.co.uk/CTHOPER-Protective-Adjustable-Snowboarding-Skateboard/dp/B08GL6BFY8/

    Unavoidable Bicycle Badger Collision

I'm so tempted to go for a bike ride! The swelling has reduced considerably since I've started intensively doing the phyiotherapy exercises. I think the exercises must be accelerating healing. Much dead skin is peeling off, now that inflammation is finally reducing. Still not a lot of...

    electroncycles bbs02 bac855 upgrade?

Would make short work of the pig track up Snowdon. If limited by the display or controller at 250W by the controller for road use, would it be road legal in the UK?

    Protective wear

Motorcycle jackets were too heavy, or I might wear one cycling. I would have scraped an elbow if I hadn't been wearing a padded leather jacket, when I collided with a badger and broke my wrist. I did scrape a knee during the badger incident, but I'd draw a line at donning leather trousers...

Rear lights: which is best, continuous or flashing?

This drunk wandering fool didn't know I was approaching until I beeped my Honitt 140db. If he hadn't changed direction and if I had swerved, the passing car might have caused me bodily problems. It's well worth 20 pounds IMHO.

I've managed to connect it. It's certainly bright. For comparison, here it is next to a 1.5W light. Despite the way it looks, the 1.5W next to it is switched on. I'll go for a night ride when the wrist swelling and pain reduces in a week or three. The physio said yesterday I'd damage nerves...

It'll do for my purposes, if it's bright enough. This may be of interest to you: https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/motorbike-headlight.42303/

You're right, I should check the draw of these lights.

Rear lights: which is best, continuous or flashing?

They were both working fine before bertie the badger made his mad dash. Now the headlight on that circuit doesn't work, isn't smashed, but I have a spare of the exactly the same, which I know does work. The rear light on that circuit works. Ideally I want those two on at all times, activated...

    Unavoidable Bicycle Badger Collision

There is some good news: I've dragged my bike upstairs to my workshoppy area, and will soon wire the new 20W light to the battery. Somehow, I managed to heav it up one flight one-handed, but it was very tricky. Will report on it's brightness, or lack thereof, soon.
