Mischievous thoughts on battery prices

Idly looking at the new Leica M11 camera, £7500 for the camera body alone, I noticed the 13.32 Wh little battery costs £142, prompting these thoughts.

If priced like that camera battery on battery capacity, the standard Bosch battery would cost £4,264.

If priced like that camera battery on battery capacity, my electric car battery would cost £430,303 , 16 times the price of the new car

Now in reverse:

If the Bosch battery was priced on capacity like my electric car battery, it would cost just £80

If that tiny Leica camera battery was priced on capacity like my electric car battery, it would cost £2.64, instead of £142

The economies of scale gone completely mad !

To be fair, they have had to stick a little piece of custom bottom plate onto the battery, and I'm sure it was hand polished by a highly skilled German technician for days on end to get that highly desirable finish.
£142 sounds like a bargain to me!
