Short circuit between phase wires? Fix?

Its a badly made unit as the screws and their holes are missing, so is the heat sink paste, that should be keeping the transistors hard and cool against the heat sink. So you may be lucky and replacing them will bring the controller back to life. But do add the screws, plastic insulating washers...

    Inter-tube confusion

What some people do is to take any old worn out tyre and cut the tread off and insert it, with a few spots of tyre cement, between the inner tube and the outer tread pattern. This reduces the size of the inner tube needed, and adds some valuable millimeters of rubber to absorb any thorns abd the...

Battery charging with inverter and 12 dv battery

Then wait and see how it works. But if you get problems, then find someone with an O'scope to look at the output wave form of the inverter... Best of luck. Andy

Short circuit between phase wires? Fix?

Make loads of pictures just in case you can correct the fault and need to be reminded how it all goes back together... Separate all six wires and try the spin test again. Is this a middle motor or not? IMHO only, is that the motor is finished....sorry! That looks like severe over heating... Andy

Short circuit between phase wires? Fix?

Possibly the Hall effect sensors are shorted, though how that would affect the motor I have no idea - I am assuming that you have them, not all motors are so fitted, but you haven't told us whether you do or not! The total number of wires going to the motor will help.... But it certainly bodes...

Short circuit between phase wires? Fix?

As others have said, its most likely that the controller is damaged, as I have never seen one with a safety diode built in to prevent damage. Some good ones may have, but guessing only! Furthermore, the motor Hall effect sensors (if installed, the motor will probably have 6 or 7 wires going to...

Battery charging with inverter and 12 dv battery

Never tried it but it should work. The biggest problem with some inverters is that other electronics might take exception to, is possibly the shape of the sine wave output. Many cheaply made inverters have an appalling "square wave" shaped output, nowhere near to it being a sine wave, as the...

How to squeeze the most of the battery?

I feel that a second battery is the best move, with my bike there are 3 power sizes/weights, (all physically the same dimensions), and one can fit into a pannier....but I do not leave it there if I need to park.....I have a bag that goes over my shoulder for that reason. My second battery is the...

Why has the Nexus 8 speed hub gear not caught on?

Guessing only, that would imply a front wheel motor, which I personally don't like, or the complication of one of those Bosch units with the cranks, which I also don't like.... regards Andy

Wanted charger for izip ezgo charger

Tell us your battery voltage and a photo of the connector at least, but with this info you should be able to buy a charger on ebay...... Why do you need one? What happened to the old one and "when"? Do remember that Li-ion batteries, if they slip below a certain level of voltage, will not charge...

Cleaning and maintaining chain on eBike

Every bike owner needs a stand, for safety and ease of working. They do not even cost much nowadays.....I do believe I paid 30 UK Pounds for mine about 8 years ago..... They fold up relatively small too! I have the middle one with 4 legs, not shown fully "out" in this photo though!! They are...

Cleaning and maintaining chain on eBike

    Disregarding UK pedelec laws

The problem is as I see, not obeying the law will possibly force the government to be more Draconian I feel, heavy fines for those caught, then we will all be made to have number plates, road taxes, insurances and the like..... I feel that if we stay within the law, those sort of problems may...

    Wisper 905 se battery fault.

Assuming its a Li-ion battery, he did not keep it charged all the time. I could make some guesses as to what he did if you wish to hear them.... What is being seen is when a Li-ion battery goes below 30% charge (which is considered to be the discharged point for normal usage), there is circuitry...

KT sine wave controller- how to make unrestricted??

Super photo!! I have never seen one before, really interesting for many here I would imagine!! My personal take, as you have little in the way of protective clothing on, no helmet for example, is to say leave it as it is..... Furthermore, what does the law say with regard to such wheelchairs...

KT sine wave controller- how to make unrestricted??

I am a bit out of my depth now, but if you have a wheel size adjustment, try programming a smaller size wheel, that should help to increase the max speed available. Is it still on a wheelchair, or is it now on a bike? regards Andy
