Bike which will take rear child seat?

We're not that keen on trailers - feels like they'd be too vulnerable. When looking at the rack mounted child seats I note they use their own pannier rack which usually has some sort of slide in mechanism, so I guess you can't just clip the seats to any rack. I've been emailing Woosh as well...

Bike which will take rear child seat?

Thanks all for your continued input! :) To be honest I'm not too fussed which type of child seat it is. I noticed the triangular piece on the back of the Woosh seat posts concealing the cable. You can see it in this picture: I see the battery sits inside the rear rack and I was thinking...

Bike which will take rear child seat?

£2k bike would be nice wouldn't it? :) Both my wife and I will be using 1 bike each to commute to work. One of us will take our daughter on the bike to nursery, the other will walk over with our son to school. We'll both ride into work from those respective locations.

Bike which will take rear child seat?

We're leaning towards the Woosh bikes. I'm thinking the Sirocco CD and Big Bear look good (quite a few hills in Plymouth!) depending on whether we can find a child carrier with enough clearance.

Bike which will take rear child seat?

Thanks again Mike for your help. We just got word today that work are starting to notify people about their parking permits. The deadline is 28th July so we could be buying within 30 days!

Bike which will take rear child seat?

Ah that's cool, gives us more to choose from. Our daughter is 2 and we'll need to carry her on the bike until she's 4. Mike, do you have any recommendations for bike makes to look into based on your experience? (I don't think we can make it up to Bristol on Sunday unfortunately).

Bike which will take rear child seat?

I take it that if we're after a bike that will take a rear child seat, all models that have the battery on a rear pannier should be avoided?

Thanks again :) I guess if we want a rear child seat then we'll need to look at bikes where the battery is not on the rear rack.

    Greetings from Plymouth!

The hills to work aren't bad but enough to cause me to sweat on a regular bike. Speaking of which, I do have a Dahon Jack 2010 model (7 speed), which I briefly thought of converting but may just sell on. I'm keen on the mtb style but the wife would be happier with a Dutch style or step through...

    Greetings from Plymouth!

We'd want a child seat for our 2 year old daughter. For my son (5) one of us would walk over to the school then hop on bike to ride to work.

Thank you both. Getting rid of a car isn't out primary aim, but it will get almost zero use if we commute to work in other ways. The Joule Bikes look nice but beyond our price range - with two bikes to get, a max of £1000 each is realistic. Cheers for the links and heads up re. Bristol :)

    Greetings from Plymouth!

Hi all, This site looks to be a great resource and one which my wife and I need due to car parking changes at work. With two children, one at school and one at nursery, and both of us working at the same place, we've been lucky to use our car to do the school and nursery run prior to driving to...
