Oxygen S-Cross CB -hunt for the shunt

Thanks @d8veh -I'll take the plunge and put my Ebay order in. Will go for the R006's - If I'm invalidating my warranty I want to do it properly :D @Woosh -I had wondered that too. See post 3 for a pic of the PCB in the case, there is a good few mm of clearance, so hopefully it will clear it...

Oxygen S-Cross CB -hunt for the shunt

@Woosh -Thanks for the clarification, that's what I was thinking, piggy back an R006 onto each of the three R002's. I have a healthy fear of meddling with PCBs and electronics in general so I want to proceed with caution. I used to work in a clean room using 30kV power supplies (drawing only...

Oxygen S-Cross CB -hunt for the shunt

Thank you all for the very helpful replies. The R002's used seem on the large size so it looks like 2512 would be the closest fit. As a sanity check - The three R002's created a total resistance of 0.666' mOhm. If I piggy back R006's onto the R002's I'll reduce the total resistance (sum of...

Oxygen S-Cross CB -hunt for the shunt

@Woosh they are R002 -please see slightly less rubbish photo attached. Looking at the component side of the board there doesn't seem to be anything hidden under the capacitor save for an IC of some sort.

Guardian article on bike helmets - good read

I remember a conversation I had with a paramedic and the changes he had seen in car accident injuries. Before the introduction of safety belt and improved brakes the injuries were more of the "gone through the front window" and covered in blood and crush type injuries. Following the safety...

Guardian article on bike helmets - good read

" the solution may well be less protection." -this reminds me of a Monster Raving Looney policy to have a 3" metal spike mounted to steering wheels to remind drivers of their own mortality.

Oxygen S-Cross CB -hunt for the shunt

@d8veh - Thanks, I did take a good look around the PCB, but didn't look too closely under the capacitor. There is a rather large resistor adjacent to it (see attached rubbish photo). When I have a chance I'll take another closer look.

Oxygen S-Cross CB -hunt for the shunt

I've been reading (always dangerous) about doing things to my shunt in my S-Cross CB. I found the controller and had a look, but have failed to identify anything that looks like a shunt save for some really heavy solder tracks, but guess these could be for heat dissipation. Anyone have any ideas?

has the oxygen range increased in price?

I think theyv' gone up about 100 quid acrosss the board. i bought an S-Cross CB last year for 1300 from memory (13Ah version). I think it is due to the increased costs of importing [citation needed].

Is it a good idea to re-torque nuts and bolts once in a while?

For me I always keep an eye on them. The roads and cycle track here (Sheffield) are sometimes more hole than road and things come loose from the vibration. Although, each loose bolt I find gets a good coating of locktite threadlock, and so far they seem to have survived the good vibrations. The...

Who are Panda Leisure Bicycles? (Panda XL)

Also if Panda leisure bikes commenced use of the mark prior to your trademark registration then they enjoy a prior user right, but you could still try a "passing off" claim.

Who are Panda Leisure Bicycles? (Panda XL)

Make sure you're aware of the unjustified threats provisions of the trade marks act 1994 (section 21). Limit your accusations to the wording in that section or you could be placing yourself at risk of a counter claim. Is your trade mark for the text alone or part of a figure as that will narrow...

    Spoke replacement

Is your bike still in warranty? If so contact John at oxygen bikes who will likely give you some for free. They replaced two broken spokes (snapping 2 more in the truing process), and then gave me 6 to take home (which I've used) with me for free. I suspect/hope I'm a one off (bike snapped...

Is there a governing body to report a rogue e bike trader/retailer to ?

I'm not commenting on the above, but just fyi, if someone did target a trader unfairly, one legal option for that trader would be to sue for damages for malicious falsehoods: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malicious_falsehood

I always thought this would be a good idea: http://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/pages/US650082-0.png A saddle with a concealed sprung spike. It wouldn't deter a theft, but any their wouldn't get too far on the bike!*

    Oxygen S-Cross Intermittent power loss

I took it back to syebc. After they had it a couple of days have now got it back all fixed. Problem they think was that the battery was loose on its terminals and everytime I hit a big bump (so often on Sheffield "roads") the connection was disturbed or cut completely. Have bought a pair of...

    Oxygen S-Cross Intermittent power loss

Thank you both for the advice. I have: 1. Charged the battery and checked it with a multimeter, it is producing ~40V. I should note that the display doesn't read low 20V's for long, and after powering on and off or peddling a bit it reverts to high 30V's. 2. I've checked the rear motor...
