Your views on possible Woosh crank drive kit

Speed has no meaning with a crank-drive. With the right gearing, you could make it spin the back wheel at 100mph, but it won't have enough power to go that fast. It's the power that affects how fast you actually can go. The higher the gearing, the less torque you get.

One thing I have noticed on my Tonaro is that with the crank drive on it is easier to pedal to a lot higher speed than normal and well above the speed the crank drive delivers by itself, there must be some assist still coming on at higher cadences, this is with the magnet removed.

Hatti, some questions if I may.
1. Will you ship the crank drive to Australia and approximate cost?
2. Can the kit be set to a 20" wheel
3. Can the chain ring be swapped to a 52 tooth or bigger?

The same with the Woosh. The speed sensor can be unplugged. Then you get 27mph with the standard gearing, and over 30mph with the 11T top gear. You can feel something helping you at those speeds, but not a lot.

Now SRAM have introduced an innovative automatic two speed gearbox rear hub motor ideal for simple use in the utility market....
The non motorised version SRAM A2 is a great little forget and fit hub. I have found that I needed to open it up to adjust the change point to a higher speed around 10-12mph rather than the 8mph, though that probably because of my small wheels.

There is also the Sturmey kick back hub but this has been problematic. If you get the coaster versions then you effectively get two gears with no cables (brake or gear) going to the back.

Sorry for straying off topic :(

I wonder what it would be like to fit this CD kit to the Brompton. Jerry, I reckon Hatti will let you try it out.

Hows the kit looking?

How many of the 100 slots have been confirmed with interested people?

Got my bike out the shed today and gave it a go going over, just need a kit to go on it now.

Kit not suitable to fit Brompton as motor will foul folding back wheel.
Looks good for Dahon Boardwalk though :)
Put "bottle" battery on main tube or seat post or rack?

Cannot see threads in "37mm" BB, does "retainer" tighten into it's own cartridge shell thread, clamping bike BB between it, and using "5mm notches" to prevent rotation?
Does that mean "33mm" size will be 'proprietry' BB too?

An adjustable, universal fit reaction arm bracket from motor could bolt down at 'pletcher'? fitting most bikes have for side/centre stands, yes?
Cheers, Mike
