One would expect the EN15194 to be 48v nominal and not max as the max figure is stupid one that makes no sense , who builds and uses 11s ?

Perhaps leaving out the term "nominal" when mentioning voltages is a convention used by writers of standards, and one mere mortals aren't made aware of?

Still in the box waiting for nicer weather.
I wish you'd get on with it! There's been so much speculation on that horrendously contentious To7OrNotTo7WhatWasTheQuestion? thread, despite myself I'm curious about the TSDZ8, and I don't even want a torque sensored bike. Cold weather be damned, be the first to review! Or keep it refrigerated, like all cheeses it'll go off past it's use by date trapped in a box, lonely in deepest inky dark.

Thanks heaps for that Az, best emotor review I’ve ever seen, concise words and dyno readings without some smug git filming himself for a video in the web.
52v out of the box woo hoo
24 amps from controller, safe. So nearly the 25 my 02 gets happily, I’d possibly not notice.
73% effeciency on his “ dyno” interesting too, I’d like to see 02 and HD under same test. I “think “my HD is better but may have to rig up similar kit to find out.
As and when I can program one of these (Dan Nillson’s OSF .?) myself, I’m in
We’re all different but from this I’d have level one similar to first firmware, SFA assistance till you press hard, sounds ideal for shared paths etc, flick it up for road work, add some throttle for hills
He doesn’t mention but it would be brilliant if throttle immediately overides pas without the delay of tsz2 or jerkiness of Bafang. Both fixable with OSF , maybe this won’t need to be ?
Legal sticker as per thread title too, what’s not to like ?

Hi @Woosh - back in your first post in this thread you said -
Gone is the anti-torque hanger on the TSDZ2B.
- why is the anti-torque hanger no longer need (that's really good new BTW) - is the 'triangular' retaining clamp more serrated than the one for the TSDZ2?

And can you tell me what is the gap between the crank axle housing and the main motor body (see pics below). On the TSDZ2 I estimate it is roughly 6.5mm at point 'X' and this is what it makes it a really tight for some frame/BB combinations.

The final mounting position of the motor looks to be 'swung forward' much more than the TSDZ2 and more like the Bafang BBxxx series and I wondering if the TSDZ8 might work with one of my bikes that has an eccentric BB - any thought? (and @Az - maybe you're in a position to answer some of the above?).

Thanks both.

On the TSDZ8, it's about 11mm-12mm.

Still not. Search the net if someone has managed to fit an BBS01 to your bike. If there is, then you'll be OK because both have the same footprint.

I have just been doing a bit of off road and have realised that when you get to more technical bits, the Bafang BBS (on a Boardman 29er pro) has a bit of a disadvantage : if you are pedalling delicately a fine line on a slow section, then the cadence sensor kicks in and gives you a big dollop of power which rather ruins your finesse and gives you a bit of a scare if there was big drops on either side ! I wonder if the TSDZ8 would be an improvement - it just varies the power depending on the pedalling effort.
I was thinking I could get a full suspension bike and add a TSDZ8 if that is sensible, does it make the conversion complicated ?(apart from having room for the battery) - was the max current 15 amps on the Woosh version ? I could maybe change the tyres and used the Boardman / BBS as a road bike.

This guy had BBS02B before. Interestingly he says Bafang gear sensor works on TSDZ8.

that's interesting - I wondered if I could just ease off on the pedalling effort when I do a gear change it would reduce the power

Theoretically it should. I don't have any problems with gear changing on TSDZ2B, but it is installed on step through bike. MTB is a different story, so Bafang gear change sensor might be something to consider.

Battery which I ordered over a month ago arrived yesterday, so today in the morning I converted my MTB and took it for a short test ride.
I recommend you buy this motor, install and don't look back. I am really impressed with performance. Much smoother power delivery comparing to TSDZ2B.
Trust me, you won't regret buying it.
