Good to know, but the Rio doesn't have the option of either torque or cadence sensors, which allow for different riding styles.

I am working on it!

1. get rid of the battery on the rack, not only ugly but weight too high up and back heavy
2. if you want to do curves try and do it without needing too many reinforcing gussets
3. step throughs I like: https://www.orbea.com/int-en/ebikes/optima-asphalt-30-18 https://www.bhbikes.com/en_GB/bikes/ebikes/urban/atom-diamond-wave http://www.winora.de/de/DE/ebikes/125/2017-e-load?colorId=192&frame=6 see where they put the battery, back where it was in the olden days
4. is the RST mono-shock front fork a bad idea, bad quality, too expensive? We don't need a heavy front fork on a city bike just 40 mm of dampening to help the Schwalbe Big Ben tyres a little
5. as most people install an aftermarket NCX seat post wouldn't it be a good idea to factory mount it instead?
6. Get over disk brakes, hydraulic rim brakes are just as powerful and much lighter and they adjust automatically...
7. lots more ideas for a daily ride, don't get me started on folders...

I am not sure I can agree with you..

it's inefficient and expensive for what it is.
You need a spring (air or coil) and a hydraulic damper, both adjustable, soo it's logical to have them in two legs.
5. as most people install an aftermarket NCX seat post wouldn't it be a good idea to factory mount it instead?
this time, a good and cheap product but has a couple of drawbacks. It's heavy and ugly. Better to have a ful-sus if you have a bad back.
6. Get over disk brakes, hydraulic rim brakes are just as powerful and much lighter and they adjust automatically...
there is nothing wrong with hydraulic disc brakes, why change?

On a city/trekking bike? With balloon tyres? Your roads must have gotten really bad since I was there in the 80's :D The fork weighs 1.33 kg compared to 2.2 kg, remember we are talking about city/trekking, weight matters when you have to man handle a bike with loaded panniers through trafic. I agree it is expensive. My cheap entry level forks are sprung without dampers already so I know where I am going...

I have had no back pain since I mounted mine. OK my bike geometry has changed, it is closer to the right size for me, but no back pain even on 60 km+ rides. Full-sus = more weight, see above. Yes it is heavy but ugly c'est un vue de l'esprit...

The RST mono-shock doesn't like disk brakes...

Hi Andrew, unfortunately I can help much with the Brose, but would be happy to sort out an E8000 set for you.

All the best, David
Thanks David. I will be trying out both Steps and Brose this weekend, so should have a better idea if either are worth pursuing.

I like the yellow stripe that delimits the two functions: frame and battery.
Not too keen on the curved top tube though.

Having the battery removable from inside the downtube as shown, is the way to go, so stick with that theme.

I'm not keen on the downtube thickness or shape, preferring the look/idea from the old BH Neo range.

I guess that the eye wouldn't be drawn quite so much to the downtube, if the bike had the top tube shape filled in and forks etc shown.

Would be nice to be able to read the dimensions. What is your target, XC, All Mountain? How much suspension travel?
Hi Chris,

This is our city and Trekking bike concept, you can see our eMTB designs earlier in the thread.

All the best, David

I'm gonna disagree with a bunch of people on here and say that I think fat downtubes are clumsy looking. The downtube on your new MTB designs are very nice in my opinion, even with the battery bulge. But how are you supposed to please everyone? Whoever came up with the new MTB design is obviously a good designer. Maybe you should just trust him or her and let them do their thing. Asking us twerps on here is OK as long as you don't take us too seriously. I've even come across a business theory that says asking existing customers what they want is harmful to you because they always say they want faster horses rather than cars. It's your job to lead us toward new innovations because we are near-sighted.

Wisper David I guess you have scrolled through the 2018 Haibike catalogue SW posted. They (the Germans) don't go overboard trying to be different in the trekking/urban.city range.

Dump the silly curves, have a high bar for those who must lift their leg to show they still can if you must, but the double low bar frames are light and easier to mount. If you can do a sub 20 kg trekking frame with easy entry you are onto a killer product. Bafang Max drive? Yeah!
