Hello, I am just about to purchase my first pedelec and seriously looking at the Oxygen E City. My commute is a 60 mile round trip, I'm 54 and weight is 90 kgs. Will this model be suitable, help....

You won't get anywhere near the quoted 70 miles range, so you will have to charge it at work. You might get 40 miles if you pedal hard.

Thanks Alan for the honest reply. I must admit when I tell the dealers my commute distance they do raise an eyebrow but then go on to say which bike will be best. I'm looking to change jobs soon when my commute will reduce to about a 25 mile round trip. Perhaps I should wait till then, although I'm tempted to buy now with the throttle on this bike before the government restriction kicks in on 01 Jan.

I'm not bothered about the throttle thing, as I build my own bikes and will continue to do as I please after the change.
My suspicion is that most bikes will still have the connectors for the throttle, and that some enterprising individual will start selling pre-wired throttles on eBay, specifically to fit certain models.

I think I'll wait till I change jobs then, plus the weather will (hopefully) be better. Your comments are much appreciated.
one bike that I think can do 60 miles a day is the woosh Karoo with 15AH battery. The bike is light, fast, and energy efficient. It has a throttle too.

I think there are some good deals around now. So you could buy it and even ride it to work once or twice before you changed jobs.

None of the legal ones are balls of fire, quite the reverse.
The commute to your new job is doable, but even then it will take around an hour each way.
Two hours or more a day on a bike in all weathers and a shift at work is not for everyone.

I think you're right RobF. Perhaps I was expecting too much and I'm so glad I posted this thread...

You need to give an ebike a whirl.
As a specialist forum, we tend to be anal about specs on here.
But in broad terms, all legal ebikes are much of a muchness.
A try on any ebike will give you a good idea of power and achievable speed.
You haven't said the terrain you are going to cover, ie; flat, etc.
As been mentioned a charge at work or a spare battery to swap over.

Tomtomato I think claimed he can manage 70-90 mles form his 17AH battery on Kalkhoff with torque drive.
yes. The electrics will last 14,000 miles. Mechanically, you only need to replace the cheap derailleur.
Would be as good as any and better than most. I do 40 miles per day on something similar.
Have a look here at the link below. I have no trouble getting 50-60 miles on a charge and over some severe ground too. Winter will not be so good with lower temperatures of course. I don't know about EAPCs doing a 60 mile round trip daily though there may be some up to that task. It's the rider I'd worry about. It takes a very special type of person to undertake such a commute daily. If it's only a couple of times a week, I can imagine that but if it's every day, 5 times a week, I don't think that regime will be maintained for too long in winter.
Surely other forms of transport are more appropriate for that kind of regular journey?
