Would you buy spark plugs for a car without checking what make AND model they were for?
The seller of the spark plugs would, I hope, describe them correctly in the advert, with the info needed to make a correct decision.

The advert is misleading. Anybody that had the same bike and wasn't familiar with the development history of Bosch motors would make the same mistake. It's the responsibility of the retailer to make clear what the applications of the product are.

The crank puller only works on certain types of cranks. They should mention which ones.

They should specifically mention that the spider tool is not suitable for the latest perforrmance line motors.

You lot should be ashamed of yourselves for what you wrote.

When things go wrong or you're unsure what to buy, the first thing to do is contact the seller and see if they can resolve the issue. Surely a better way forward to find resolution than first posting here after they've sent you what you ordered...

or use the contact form

Well your overall position is in the minority compared to the other posters in this thread so far.

What I find interesting is the psychology here.

Mistake made, comes on a public forum making unfounded accusations, attempts to justify again and again, won't accept they are wrong in any way, it's all somebody else's fault, won't take any responsibility themselves.

Try some googling of 'never my fault' and 'not my fault' and you'll begin to understand where you are.

Also I know nothing about ebiketuning.com but what I do know is the majority of retailers in the ebike market appear to be small businesses, in a relatively new market doing their best to make a living and fulfil a market desire. And that's in a world where right now, with a global pandemic, things are even more difficult. Inflammatory headlines such as yours, even if it were true, do nothing to help those businesses.
I do not see how any of us can claim minority or majority on such an item.
But "some" here, seem to make a "hobby" of picking fights with other members.
How about simply giving more of the good, friendly advice, and far less of the attacking.

The last perfect person on this planet, got himself crucified, some 2000 odd years ago. (actual date is still being discussed by the way!)

Therefore, you are definitely not perfect, neither is anyone else here!
And nobody needs to treat others in this unfriendly manner.
He did not attack, he pointed out a possible problem, which I thought he actually did it very carefully, even though he was a bit "peeved" by the problem.
But on Pedelec, if one answers back to an "attacker", then some here judge the person who answered back as though he was the primary attacker.
I have also been treated in that manner.....Not good.
I do feel that some (ALL?) here should respect a reasonable "Code of Conduct", which I would expect to be in the Pedelec rules, though I admit that I have not read them recently to be absolute sure, but most forums have such rules.
Also, some rude and ill mannered here, seem to attract a gang around themselves. That is also not very nice either. One on one can be bad enough, but ganging up shows a poor mentality, we are not rabid dogs!
Hoping that more here follow some sort of simple Code of Conduct types of rules, eg. show some good manners, that we all could get from a good upbringing, and not the opposite!
PLEASE?
Andy

The ad is misleading but not deliberately so, EBT have just taken their eyes off the ball on this one. As technology moves on and models change so do the tools they require to service them, but just as we need to be sure what we buy is the correct tool for the job the supplier must make it perfectly clear what that tool will and wont do.
In this case it was not that clear.

Speaking with the seller first would better alert it him to any problem either way...

Honda for instance made a VTR1000F and a VTR1000 SP, two entirely different bikes - VTR Firestorm forums get the occaisonal rider wondering why brake pads etc. they've ordered for a VTR1000 don't fit. Often its clear in the ad with some scrolling or they've used a generic part pic so its not so apparent - but generally it's inexperience and a desire to press the first and cheapest BIN and not invest time or effort in prior research.

Bosch in their infinite wisdom have 3 different “performance line“ motors.
2014 performance line, 2015 performance line CX and 2020 performance line CX.
It’s not the OP’s fault for buying a tool that doesn’t work as at it appeared to be the one he needed, nor is it the shops fault as the tool works for the motors available when it was first made. Products would benefit from the date of manufacture added to there description and to be fare 2020 motors are so new that aftermarket tools will only just be hitting the market.

The crank puller is the same, as the bike industry moves on certain manufacturers make there own unique cranks/ bottom brackets so finding a puller that fits is not straight forward. It may only be a millimetre or two difference between fitting or not so how can you know (especially if your buying tools for the first time)

In hindsight the thread title put a few peoples backs up as neither tool is useless, they just doesn’t fit the OP”s generation of motor.
There seams to be a lot more squabbling on this forum recently and I put it down to Covid frustration, we’re all fed up with the situation and there’s nothing we can do about it so it makes us a bit ratty.
not me though, im in my first week of early retirement and I always avoided crowded places anywho,:p:cool:;)

i found one ;)

ebike tuning does not sell the gen 4 lock ring tool.
Yes but you’re find is an OEM part probably available soon after the motor arrived, I was suggesting that 3rd party manufactures would be late to the party :p

Hi all just a quick update for anyone who finds this thread and is having the same problem as I am.
I ordered the following tool from Amazon:

...only to find it doesn't fit either! The teeth look like they'd interface with the lockring but the spindle from the motor protrudes too far.

Could it be that I actually have a Gen 4 motor after all even though it says just Performance Line (and not Performance Line CX) on the casing? My bike is a 2020 Cube Acid Hybrid One 500.

Either way, I'll send this one back and I've emailed the company selling this tool to see if they can confirm it will work before I buy it:

Hopefully it will be a case of third time lucky, getting rather annoyed at my shiny new bike that creaks like a whorehouse mattress! I'll update the thread when I find out either way.
