you should have a bolt in the accessories. One of the plastic bungs fits the hole of the steerer tube. The bolt when screwed in expands the plastic bung an holds it to the steerer tube. The front mudguard clips on the plastic bung.
I'll ask Jim to give you a call tomorrow.

rear mudguard: there seems to be a rubber piece between the post and the mudguard, I don't know exactly if it's supplied TBH.

Got there in the end, it was just a very tight fit getting the bung in there. Still have 2 other cylinder pieces which dont appear to serve a purpose. I'll leave it alone now until tomorrow, just charged the battery

I think we use only one bung out of the three supplied.
I'll ask Philip to fit the bung in the future before packing to avoid confusion and many thanks for the feedback. It helps to get things right.

I guess i'm the mail order guinea pig? The manual is pretty comprehensive overall, just a few minor alterations would help those who haven't owned a bike in years such as myself.

no, it's not that. I don't deal with support, nor write the manuals, so I am not aware of these issues. Andy is our manual and support man.

Also top achievable speed with non-super human being peddling would be very good to know.
four people tried out the Rio MTB today.
Two tried for top speed in the back streets around our shop.
Top speed for a young man was 24mph, his dad wasn't bad, 22mph.

What do you reckon to the rack? Put about half my body weight on it and it didnt budge. Bit of a fiddle to fit but suits the bike IMO. Lights are pretty decent.

Volusia,

You seat pin seems quite high up in the picture. The Rio seat post is 350mm x 30mm. You need at least 15cm inside the seat tube, leaving about 20cm over the top of the seat tube. Please bear it in mind.

I have ordered a sample this 400mm x 30mm post for test:

don't worry about paying for a new post. The new batch of Rios being made at the moment is fitted with the longer 400mm post. It's only this batch that has 350mm post.
I have ordered a sample in the UK just to make sure that it fits properly, before I'll get one sent to you. You only have to return the 350mm post back to me later.

I just measured the seat tube. it is exactly 20cm from where the metal tube itself meets the base of the seat to where the tube enters the frame of the bike. I take it that is OK?

That would be cool if I could change it to a slightly longer one, as I still have a bit of a bend in my leg at the current tube position.
By the way I got the spring washer in the post today, thanks

and did you see? the price does not include the lever to operate the thing.
I remember at the last Redbridge event, a certain member of the forum did not realize how strongly the damned thing goes up!
I was warned just in time before I rode that same bike. In my case, I was to move the saddle down rather than up.

a bit of technology + a lot of bling for people who have money to burn.
£316 for this seat pin:

that thudbuster is hell a lot more useful.
Still too heavy for my liking (570g). I'd rather pay for better suspension.
