Morning all. Anyone had delivery problems with this item from the eBay link originally provided ? Ordered mine 7th November and seller promptly despatched it same day via Hermes.Tracking confirms item with Hermes and out for delivery then Tuesday 8th tracker states "parcel to large. Specialist delivery vehicle required" It's a 350mm seat post not a 9 foot scaffold pole ! Anyway , despite stating it will be on its way in the next 48 hours, it's now the 15th and still not delivered. Seller says he is monitoring the situation. Just wondered if other purchaser's had theirs delivered via Hermes. Cheers.

I expect it has been mislaid in transit or stuck at a sorting office.
At the mo the seller as you say is monitoring the situation so looks like they are at lest not ignoring the issue. Keep messaging them every few days for progress.
I once had an email from Hermes to say package signed for and delivered, to which it hadn't so next day escalated the failure with ebay and got a full refund. Some 10 days later the worse for wear parcel arrived.

Mine was dispatched on 27th Oct, delivered on 30th Oct via Hermes.
No problems with mine. From memory it arrived within about 10 days. The wait will be worth it!
I received mine OK. It was also ordered on the 7th, delivered on 12th with no problems. Can't see if it was Hermes, sorry.
Finally my seat post was delivered Thursday 26th November after being paid for 7th November. Had to get eBay involved as the seller had ignored my last 5 emails and Hermes declared the package was too large for standard transport (must be code for We have lost it). Hermes courier delivered it in an old Ford Escort Estate car. Anyway fitted it this morning and had a quick 12 mile ride. Does what it says on the can. Worth the wait. Cheers.
Wow, bit of a marathon! Some of these courier arrangements with guys using private cars with parcels piled in the boot do look a bit suspect! Stuff must get lost, mislaid, or wrongly delivered I reckon. Still, pleased its resolved. Enjoy!

I took the plunge yesterday and I have read and watched loads of videos but nothing tells me which way to turn the bottom adjuster if I want to go harder or softer.
I've tried it all the way out and around 20mm in but there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference.

Looking at the bottom of the seatpost, clockwise stiffens it (i.e. shortens the spring & increases the preload).
You won't easily move it by hand - you have fit it and sit on it.
I tightened it clockwise maybe 80%ish until I got it to just start suspending, but then I'm 19st (= on the edge of needing a harder spring). Less than 80% was too bouncy for me, but your experience will be different.
One bit I noticed was that on a Brooks saddle the rails are very close to the spring (the suspension just clears where the rails close up together if you set the saddle forwards). If you're getting zero movement, check nothing is stopping the suspension from moving.

I don't think the adjuster is meant to make the suspension action harder or softer. It's there to change the preload, so you can adjust it according to your weight. This prevents the mechanism from topping and bottoming out, which stops it from being damaged.
If you find that after adjusting, it's still topping or bottoming out too much, then you may need to purchase one of the other spring inserts. I believe the fitted one is medium, but you can get a firmer or softer spring.
Someone mentioned earlier that they weigh 100kg and the supplied spring is fine.
You are correct Fordulike. With mine I found the standard spring OK but preferred to set the preload so it is just off the stop with my weight static. Also despite greasing everything from new the centre piston does start squeaking from time to time so needs a bit of extra lubing. Not a fit and forget item. When first fitted I found the change in handlebar distance a little disconcerting but soon got used to it and don't notice it any more. My back backside appreciates it, so well worth it. I weigh 95Kg fully kitted.
Yeah, it's a weird sensation for the first few miles, due to the way the parallelogram moves, but you quickly get used to it.
So that's the part where you sit on the seat and see how far it drops, I believe 33% is fine?
