wait a moment, i can upload it to 4shared.comHi Danny,
I want to use an older android 2.1 'phone exclusively as a speedict mercury display/controller; the bluetooth is OK, but the wifi on it has packed up.
Can I download an .apk file for the mercury client from anywhere, to my notebook, so I can use a usb cable to transfer it to the 'phone?

very good diagnostic , now confirmed port 4, port 3 working, port 1 don't care, and the rest is port 2.Hi Danny
I downloaded the s/w, it's activated and i'm up and running. Live feed is showing temp, battery voltage, and speed.
I have tried to set up the 'throttle mode' function.
Port 1 speed sensor
Port 2 throttle i/p
port 3 temp sensor
port 4 throttle o/p
I can set the 'lowest and highest throttle point' and have been monitoring signal voltages. All seems well (motor runs up to max speed etc ), but when i save the settings to the speedict, it appears that port 4 no longer shows any signal volts and throttle doesn't work. If you look at the photo, i have the port status showing on the phone and i'm measuring 1.77 volts. I would expect the throttle signal to appear on port4. I have checked my wiring, if i disconnect the throttle cables to the speedict and join the throttle directly......controller/throttle works ok.
I thought it could be motor soft start or motor gain etc, but i i've tried various settings and probably confused myself now. Can you give me some known default settings that will give me a basic setup.
thanks.
Is this your first one Jerry? It's amazing how tiny the thing is eh. You could probably fit them inside a controller or motor even!Yay mine just turned up
I must have just missed the Christmas post though to be honest it would have been an unwelcomed distraction with all that went on over the festive period.
Regards
Jerry
I'm watching with interest your posts Wurly as I'll have to install mine when my freewheel eventually turns up and Catsnapper builds my wheel up. Perhaps we can write a simple "quick start guide" made sticky, as it look like there's quite a bit involved in installing (and using) this product and once someone has done it, it will be easier for others. There's no doubt a few do's and dont's we'll figure out along the way.I know what you mean Jerry, i have tried to get mine working inbetween all that. Now i have resumed babysitting grandson and fixing washing machine. My ebike is all disconnected and outside again. I'll get back to you Danny.
Thanks for that, Danny - installed fine - Only problem now, it won't authorise the software, as it's not connected to wifi.wait a moment, i can upload it to 4shared.com
Jack does the Speedict support WiFi as well as Bluetooth? I thought it was only BT?Thanks for that, Danny - installed fine - Only problem now, it won't authorise the software, as it's not connected to wifi.
I'm not too concerned, as I'm running it on my galaxy note anyway.
not even 3G network ? if you really want to run it on your phone, please let me know !Thanks for that, Danny - installed fine - Only problem now, it won't authorise the software, as it's not connected to wifi.

Hi Chris,I downloaded the Mercury app from Google play, and connected the phone with the Mercury device. On a quick look at the voltage in live view I think I will have to calibrate the setup; but its Christmas Day, so I think I will have to get back to the cooking!
Merry Christmas to all Cheers!
Chris
Hi Chris,
For what it's worth, my speedict is reading the battery voltage as 0.25 volts lower than my cheapo wattmeter.
I know less than you, PaulJack does the Speedict support WiFi as well as Bluetooth? I thought it was only BT?
I noticed it has a USB port, which I assume is primarily for transferring data logs to PC but also updating firmware? Do you know whether data logs can be transferred via BT to a PC?
I know less than you, Paul
The problem I had was that I wanted to run mercury on an oldish android phone that has lost its wifi: I've managed to download the app, with Danny's help, but it apparently needs wifi to aurhorise the software.
I'm going to run it on the galaxy note for now, not wanting to introduce too many variables at once. When I'm more familiar with it I'll start getting cleverer
Ahh I see. I guess some people may buy cheap dedicated android phones second hand off eBay or perhaps one of the cheap Chinese tablets to mount on bike.. I'm thinking about doing that myself rather than using my beloved HTC Desire phone..I've not had any luck finding a secure mounting solution and neither am I very confident about using a DIY setup incase it falls off ;-)I know less than you, Paul

That's a good idea! Nearly everything has WiFi or BT these days and with BT USB dongles available so cheaply on eBay even a desktop PC can have BT support to speak to the speedict ;-)i don't like the usb port, if we can eliminate the usb port we are likely to put the speedict mercury inside a box for rain proof
