Lol, I'd never ride any of the flying car designs I've seen so far, because they never install parachutes - and you can't autorotate down like a helicopter does when power cuts out, when all the rotors on a "Flying car" stop in flight (if it doesn't have wings):

They can do tests in small cities like Coventry, to create investment buzz, but it'll be a long time till they're on the M6, lifting off and landing.

Only nutters fly helicopters, I've never tried it. I wouldn't mind a go on a glider sometime, but not this type of gliding:

...maybe in the future, people will use a drone in their front yard to gain height, then wingsuit to do a spot of shopping, then drone and wingsuit back?

That's nasty - the islands don't help cyclists, too many lanes.

What do drivers on this forum think about adding speedbumps all around roundabouts, to reduce speed?

Speed bumps are only effective against those drivers who take note of them. We have speed bumps at various points through our village. Doesn't stop the speeding vehicles including the HGVs that thunder over them at the full 30mph limit shaking the houses.

Totally opposed, they are an environmental disaster in many different ways and many of today's cars can just shrug them off at speed.

Canvey Island roundabout on the A13/A130 used to be like that, but they've changed it now. the modern trend is to put traffic lights on every entry/exit. you can see how it is now on Google satellite view.

Making them even worse environmentally? No way, they should all be removed and never reinstated.

There is a far more intelligent way to slow traffic which really works, causes no damage, environmentally better and is cheaper in the long run for all concerned.

They encourage drivers to accelerate and slow between them, wasting fuel and increasing pollution from exhausts and brake linings. Huge numbers of shock absorbers damaged and needing replacement due to excessive use. In addition heavy vehicles bumping over them regulary break up the road surface necessitating constant patching.

Clear speed limit signs followed shortly after by an excess speed sensor that automatically operates stop lights with the newer generation of ANPR sensing cameras that automatically heavily fines the owner of a vehicle that doesn't stop before the line and wait for green.

Simple, everyone tied to the speed limit at no more overall end cost than the present silly speed bump policy that doesn't work.

I like that idea but wonder if anything but traffic lights will slow the careless, blind, inattentive, drunk or coked up drivers, any more than speed cameras do.
