Smart ebiker....I don't mind anyone having a bit of fun on the forum but not when you are not respectful of other forum members and certainly when you are rude to them,I am surprised Russel has not banned your address.
I asked some very basic questions about the approaches to Guernsey, your lack of response would suggest that you have never taken any boat into Guernsey ,certainly not a 40 knot planing boat.
If you are an fantasist troll, you are not a good one,you should have done your homework first.
So you don't own any boat, you are desperate to find a wife, you can't afford an e-bike but are besotted about the Smart bike....is that a reasonable synopsis?
KudosDave

The webmaster/mod/site owner/whatever has previously ejected members but not for being dickheads.

I think if member comments cause an advertiser to pull out and the site loses revenue, then that is more likely to inspire serious action. The last time I remember an event which may have provoked such action concerned a couple of guys, Eddy O and Indu O or similar and that was quite some time back. That didn't go down well universally and some other frequent contributors withdrew from inputting their views thereafter, Jeremy being one of note.

Clearly, the management avoid intervening in little online spats as most fizzle out fairly quickly with no real harm done so expulsion is something of a rarity.

If this site is dictated to by advertisers. I will take every thing on here with a pinch of salt.

EddieO and Indalo had some very heated arguments over a long period of time, they had many warnings over their language, the argument over the Storck Radar bike was really the final nail.
In fact I quite miss EddieO ,he was best described as a colourful character but his knowledge of the German market was genuine.
Be assured that this site is not run by the advertisers...I know of one,who is a big advertiser on the forum,is constantly moaning about criticism of his product but the forum advises, quite correctly, that you have to take the rough with the smooth.
The forum is run by Russel not the advertisers.

So would everyone else, were that the case but I haven't actually said that. My allusion was to the fact that advertising is important to the site provider but to interpret that to suggest the dealers say what goes is stretching things more than a little.

You're starting to sound as obsessed about Smart Ebiker, as he is about his Smart Ebike.

Come on children, time for bed!!

Sorry for not being about I have been out with my stunning wife for supper in a superb restaurant, back now and off to bed. I have a security team fitting out my estate with stunning CCTV cameras tomorrow, nothing to do with the forum, or even the value of my Mercedes Smart eBike :) more to do with the lack of anyone giving a damn about you in this day and age, and in London you have to take your own precautions and look after yourself.

Sweet dreams :)

Dave, I like a lot of your posts and I consider you much more principled than many others in that little cut-throat cottage industry, the UK E-bike market.

On this occasion, although I wasn't a member of the forum at the time, I was an avid reader of the pages but I cannot remember any of the things mentioned in your post.

I sometimes thought Eddie and Indalo were one and the same and I certainly can't remember any disagreements between them. Neither do I remember any warnings being issued publicly with regard to language or anything else. From memory, they were simply, for want of a better descriptor, excommunicated. I have seen similar comments to yours published here previously but unless my memory is letting me down, it is simply not what occurred in print.

It seems to me that the absence at that time of any detailed explanation from the site provider for the expulsions caused some people to surmise about what had transpired and make assumptions that were not verifiable by any facts available to readers.

Perhaps notably, the bike that caused such a kerfuffle has never sold in great numbers and with the benefit of hindsight, at that point in time it probably was grossly overpriced given its limited abilities. The burgeoning Bosch-powered market quickly grabbed people's attention at prices considerably less than the one criticised, not just by the two expelled members, but by several others. That subjectively, the bike was nice to ride was never going to convince the forum readership that it was worth the huge numbers on the price tag!

This story reminds me a little of the Joseph Goebells theory that, if you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. Trex produced some of the dialogue from the time in question but there is no mention of any bad language or warnings so unless I'm mistaken, those never occurred, at least in the public arena of the forum.

Tom

I'm reasonably sure KD wasn't suggesting they argued with each other, but that they teamed up (perhaps colluded) to argue with others.

Also, I suspect the thread you have just read has been sanitised. If you are going to the extreme of banning people from a forum then you may as well go the whole hog and clear up the ugliness they left behind.

Tom, Eddie and I were friends and continued communications very long after he was barred from the forum. In fact I even posted news and information on his behalf a number of times, stating I was doing that each time. But I can assure you that what KudosDave has said is true. There were repeated warnings and undertakings given, but finally the last straw occurred when Indalo and Eddie had some posted communications in the old forum on which they thought was a private channel but was in fact public. Apparently what was posted by them was the last straw. Trade member involvement wasn't the only element, there was a big personality clash between Eddie and a well known member, sometimes too vigorously expressed.

From when I joined as the first member, Russell Scott who founded and runs this forum has always been extremely reluctant to ban anyone, in my view too reluctant on occasions, but it's his forum to be lenient with of course.

Finally to show that there was no ill-feeling between Eddie and KudosDave, i'm posting this link to a post of mine, passing on a message from Eddie. The last post below that also illustrates my continuing contact with Eddie.

Eddie hated heavy batteries mounted on the rear rack,he thought they should be mounted on the down tube.
Eddie hated front axle power, declaring it causing understeer especially on wet roads.
Eddie hated weight,he referred to anything weighing more than 25 kilos as tanks.
Eddie hated anything that looked chunky,he wanted slimline frames
Eddie hated throttles, preferring torque sensor driven.
Eddie hated bikes that looked utilitarian, wanting production style

sounds like me lol my tanks 21kg try jumping it ;)
