I am more concerned about how those animals are kept. They are intelligent, and probably more intelligent than many dogs and cats - for sure they are more intelligent than cats, but in many systems they are very cruelly deprived. I don't eat much pork, but I have had the odd sausage - four in the last week, and I feel some guilt about that. The way sows are caged to prevent fatalities among the piglets is a sorry state of affairs.

I would have no issue in eating pig if they were kept free range and were wandering about digging roots.
Very much like me, only very rarely eating pork as a cut of meat and even more rarely a pork sausage. There are the few producers of partially or fully free range pork, such as the pigs on pannage in the New Forest, but the labelling allowing us to choose doesn't seem to exist.

This article says it all on Routh. The man is a fantasist, a criminal and a lunatic.

This is also worth a look.

Also the Ukrainians wanted nothing to do with Routh. They clearly spotted him as a nutter. He was told his efforts to recruit foreign fighters were helping no one and asked to stop.

People who saw him camping in Kiev said you could tell he wasn't all there.
Washington Post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really, my friend!

What you have to remember is that those animals would never even have a life if we didn't eat them.

Which would be preferable, since these "farm" animals are wholly artificial, so arguably should not exist. But with our out of control population we've made a trap for ourselves over time.

Strange attack on the EU, where no country is forced to join nor stopped to leave the club.
As soon as there is the word 'supra national ' somewhere, some people just see red. Should countries leave the UN too? The UN is supranational alright. How about defense pacts like NATO? Scotland and Wales are not as rich in natural resources like Norway.
Norway has true independence from EU. Why? because they kept their hydroelectric dams, have electricity from them, sell their oil and gas (sorry again) to build their sovereign fund. All from within the EEA.
Maybe all countries should collectively dissolve the EU and rejoin the EEA? (Common Market)

I didn't really understand why we didn't join the EEA after Brexit.

TM's deal was in that direction, remaining in the customs union while negotiating a similar deal like EEA but without freedom of movement. Her deal would not allow the UK to cut taxes as much as the government wants, cut 'red tapes' aka health and safety, employees protection, veterinary standards, environmental protection, zero carbon economy, human rights, etc.
Brexit was the triumph of the billionaires who control our MSN.

The EEA is 80% to 90% the EU. You still have the 4 freedoms, the single market and the customs union. You have to pay into eu solidarity fund to redistribute wealth, no common foreign policy, no common tax policy. I think the EU would require smaller countries wishing to join the eea / single market to adopt the euro.

Trump’s tariffs could tank the economy. Will the Supreme Court stop them?
President-elect Trump is his own worst enemy, unless his fellow Republicans on the Supreme Court intervene.
"After winning the 2024 election in part due to high inflation early in President Joe Biden’s term, President-elect Donald Trump wants to enact policies that would lead to the very same kind of inflation that doomed Democrats."

The billionaires want to control the market , so they want tariffs and freedom to develop their businesses besides tax cuts. I can see Trump backing off from mass deportation but can't see Trump backing off on tariffs.

"What’s stirred everything up? Is it all about Trumpism?
It’s Trump and uneducated rednecks. Trump is just telling them what they want to hear. I used to hang out with him. He’s a crazy motherfucker. Limited mentally — a megalomaniac, narcissistic. I can’t stand him. I used to date Ivanka, you know.

Wait, really?
Yes, sir. Twelve years ago. Tommy Hilfiger, who was working with my daughter Kidada, said, “Ivanka wants to have dinner with you.” I said, “No problem. She’s a fine motherf*cker.” She had the most beautiful legs I ever saw in my life. Wrong father, though."

"A symphony conductor knows more about how to lead than most businesspeople — more than Trump does. He doesn’t know sh*t. Someone who knows about real leadership wouldn’t have as many people against him as he does. He’s a f*cking idiot."

Well maybe the EEA is not the answer and EFTA is? Or make a New agreement without the Strings. Much easier when EU dissolved, no Commission, No Parliament, No
Oh, and Sweden, Denmark and Norway all use their own version of the 'krona', Not euro. They seem to manage OK. "The Norwegian krone was launched in 1875, when Norway joined the Scandinavian Monetary Union."

If EU dissolved, Europe would immediately save €200billion
"The Commission has proposed an annual EU budget of almost €200 billion"
Oh, hold on, no that's not it, it's..
"The current EU budget is over €2.0 trillion. It consists of the EU’s 2021-2027 long-term budget of €1.2 trillion topped up by the up to €800 billion NextGenerationEU recovery instrument for the years 2021 to 2026."
In other words, give us all your money and we will decide what to use/waste/"lose" it on! :D
