Quick back of an envelope maths here & no intensive research. It would be interesting from a geology perspective, why geothermal drilling costs £24mn for 5km but a quick google and it only costs £4mn to drill for oil with the deepest hole being 12km. Perhaps something to do with the piping and heat transfer element.

Interesting bit at the top of the page about AI. Rogue AI is the next big scare tactic. They have kept aliens on the back-burner, as they use the mainstream media to keep recycling completely debunked videos, saying that the US military can't figure out what it is, when any normal person can see the wings flapping. The claim of rogue AI is extremely convenient as a way to shut down all communications and scare people into staying in their houses or anything else, and best of all, it's very easy to fake. Don't fall for it.

I suppose the danger of ai comes from its military use. AI can already fly F16s, shoot any target in the dark even when on the move, trigger false alarms, fake any world leader, manipulate stock market whether it's oil, gas or nuclear contamination. Just look at what the clever people at Boston dynamics come up with.

Loss of jobs to "A.I." will increasingly keep people in their houses, hypnotised by "A.I." generated content through all available senses, until they rise up wielding pitchforks and torches to be killed by "A.I." drones.

Sexbots will lead the charge.

Pimlico raking it in, as usual. The earth's core isn't going to cool anytime soon, oil is of course finite.

weeding my strawberries
I retrieved a big haul of strawberries when I eventually got around to doing that last week - of the three varieties of strawberry I grow, the most delicious, with actual strawberry flavour (unlike the ones sold in shops, which are selected for shelf-life not flavour) are Wild Strawberries which really do produce tasty (and tiny) fruit all year round, and these amazing big juicy and sweet Marshmello Strawberries which the celebrity Michelin starred chef Raymond Blanc calls "The von troo straw berrrrriiiiii!"

The bare root plants need a bit of reviving, but the survival rate is quite good. They've proven to be very disease resistant too. Each plant sends out tethered astronauts from the mothership, which you can pot (when roots are visible) to plant. You get two harvests per year with Marshmellows, not just in June.

Strawberries are free energy and they taste good - much better than geothermal.

How is the Lithium mining in Cornwall going?
Maybe some geothermal power from it though?

Meanwhile..
"2 disposable Vapes thrown away every second in UK".
10 tonnes a year, enough for 1200 ev batteries, oh dear
So it can't be that scarce?:)

Most likely Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd), Nickel-Metal-Hydride (NiMH) batteries in disposables, some may use Li-po even though this statistic is not great, from plastic to e-waste this is the true definition "growth" under, yes you guessed it; "capitalism". I have not yet researched the "no growth" model but it seems to be gaining momentum.

Seems to be lithium, either -ion, -polymer or -manganese, at least in the rechargeable types.
This one suggests disposables are mainly lithium ion.

Back on the thread subject, just received notification of the reduction in electricity prices from 1st July, due to falling wholesale prices:

My unit charge down from 34.175p to 30.899p

Daily standing charge remaining at 45.566p.

Both including the 5% VAT.

Oxygen Energy describe this as an average 17% reduction, obviously no strangers to creative accounting, since these should be the new prices with 17% off the electricity component and standing charge but VAT added back in:

Unit charge 28.3653p

Standing charge 37.8198p

What they've actually given is under 10% off the unit price (9.86 %) and nothing off the standing charge.

So the overall annual reduction based on my current annual usage (6400 units) is actually a measly 8.91%, barely over half their claimed percentage reduction.

Old total cost p/a for 6400 units = £2353.53

New total cost p/a for 6400 units = £2143.85

So much for the 20% reduction that the government and others have been expecting would happen in July.

It'll die through lack of funds.
Or lack of growth...:p

Well that is not good, most I see on the side of the road are fairly big so Li-ion is possible, bigclivelive was salvaging them at one point, however one would assume Li-ion would be rechargeable vapes that are being chucked.

But hey what do I know my vape is from 2019 I got 3x batteries thinking they wouldn't last however one did fault but the other 2 are still going strong, I got the rebuild-able tiny micro coil deck which fits my highly illegal China imported 3ml tank (also 2019 since superglue repaired) to avoid the very wasteful aspect of ecigs, I now use mine as an ecigar when I fancy a hit of nic, today I have not had one vape but I will with a stroll in the yard later. I truly hate wasting things that have longevity or value.

Hoodwinked, I get 19% however I have not done the maths, I am on prepay so I get an addition easement. I will work it out...

Not hoodwinked, I spotted their con immediately. But none of them are angels, wait 'til you've worked yours out, I bet it won't remotely be 19% reduction of your annual cost.

Maybe the 20% forecast was an estimated average for gas & electricity combined. Just checked mine - 9.75% for electricity (EDF) and 24% for gas (British Gas).

My electric kw/h is the same as yours flecc, no chnage in the rip off SC.
Gas is 7.538p kw/h down from 10.343p.

They are still treating the UK public with contempt.
