Our world faces 'unprecedented' spike in electricity demand
And it's not just datacenters driving the need for 3,500 TWh of new energy generation by 2027

Why Tech Companies Are Joining the GOP-Oil Alliance
The big bet on artificial intelligence has turned tech billionaires from vocal climate advocates into Trump toadies.
The very first thing Artificial Incipience should be tasked with is how to Reduce the Power Consumption of AI ? Its getting dericulous!

Watched O'Leary (Irish? Canadian?) tell how new Datacentres *Start* at 1 GigaWatt of electricity :)

Btw - Ireland has announced No New Datacentres Unless they build their *Own New Power Stations* using Oil or Gas..
Oops, drill baby drill again, sorry hehe.

If we do AI the Chinese way, we will use a lot less electricity.

‘No kings on Presidents Day’ rings out from protests against Trump and Musk

Hardly surprising from AP news, is it though? He has Banned then from the White House, so they bite back out of mere spite!
They've also been thrown out of their cushy offices in the Pentagon, along with the usual suspects.
And they were funded by Internews Network from USAID money, registered at a disused building, ayayay. :-/
Sorry I missed the coronation though, hehe.

Never mind that..
Pints of Guinness just went up 30cents in the pub to €5.50.
When the brewery price only went up 12cents, arrgh!, Diaboliceo (Diageo)
Why do we pay "Vat" And "Excise" on beer paid for by income that already had "Tax" and "N.i", and, etc deducted? Surely that's Triple taxation, at least, and illegal? Grrr! :)

Really?

In 2023, China's electricity generation emitted 582 grams of carbon dioxide per kilowatt-hour. This is the fourth highest emission intensity in the world.

UK generated electricity emitted 126 grams of co2 per kilowatt hour.

You seem to have a tendency to whitewash China's absolutely atrocious environmental record. You do it often - exaggerating their development of clean power.

Building solar farms and wind power systems does not make up for their voracious appetite for burning more than half of the coal burned on the planet.

Last year, they built a 100 Giga watts of NEW coal power stations IN CHINA and many across Africa, and they burned in total over 4 Billion tons of coal, increasing the total by five percent on the previous year.

I was replying to MikelBikel. He said that

Huawei has just released their Ascend 910C chip. Similar to the way Deepseek engineers handcoded the networking layer of their nvidia gpus, the huawei chip gives better results with less power. I watched yesterday a report on Chinese bytedance's new video generator called Omnihuman-1. I think the way they do AI is a lot less power hungry than OpenAI, google, Microsoft, grok etc.

Customers 'gaslit' by 'soul-destroying' new energy price cap
"They also made mention of the industry that has made £483 billion in profits since 2020.
At the heart of the scandal is the system that sees electricity prices being set by the cost of gas up to 40% of the time under the marginal pricing rules. "
