Everything is bigly weirder in the USA:

Texas woman injured after hawk drops snake on her

"The snake wrapped itself around her arm and began striking her face as the bird sunk its talons deep into her flesh."

there is no risk to the results of future elections
Does it really matter, with a two party system & who ever is a shoe in for the next PM is a power thirsty technocrat and not a true leader.

Been revealed in Australia that farmers get $12,000 per year lease for land, while "Renewables" company get $600,000, Per Windmill, subsidy from Gov. (One source says up to $30,000 per unit per year)
Farmer is liable for all damages if windmill catches fire and burns their And/or neighbours property.
That's $40billion a year(?) for windmills from the public. (Edit: Do they mean total subsidy by 2030?)

The coal fired power stations run continuously to fill in a base load and spinning the mills.
When windmills do generate, only intermittently,
the coal station vents the steam it cannot use until the wind drops, etc, etc! :-0

The cost to charge an e-bike can vary based on several factors, including the capacity of the e-bike's battery, the local electricity rates, the battery's state of charge, and the efficiency of the charging process.
For example, let's say you have an e-bike battery with a capacity of 400 Wh (0.4 kWh), your local electricity rate is $0.15 per kWh, and your battery is currently at 50% charge. It would cost you approximately 3 cents to charge your e-bike's battery from 50% to full.

Since this thread started, I haven't paid anything for the electricity I've used to charge my bike. I've probably got about another three months before I have to think about it. I've heard of some very interesting tarrifs where you can actually make money from your electric supply if you have a decent battery. You can buy the electricity on a low rate night time tarrif and sell it back to them at 17:00 hrs at as much as £1.25 per unit.

You could probably build a shed-sized battery with all the old batteries you've got kicking around, and make millions! MILLIONS!

Tropical forests may become too hot for photosynthesis
Scientists raise the alarm after they found global heating could impair photosynthesis in tropical forests, ushering in potentially irreversible changes.

E-bike chargers may have varying degrees of efficiency. Some energy will be lost as heat during the charging process. While this loss is generally small, it’s worth considering if you want a more accurate cost estimate.

After submitting my meter readings, I had been regularly winning £1 with the Octopus wheel of fortune spins most months by resubmitting the reading using Firefox on Android (hit the back button, then forward and take another spin, over and over again), but they appear to have noticed my highly unlikely and repeated wins, and patched their website so this is now impossible. Despite doing that for over two years, I failed to win the jackpot £500 off my bill, and doubt this is actually possible given the many £1 (£1 only, every time) wins I've had. I'll try some other browsers, because every little helps.

(p.s. the above isn't illegal - not my fault they screwed up coding their website)
