It's the continuation of British class system. Clarkson doesn't want to pay tax after he dies. I reckon his children will inherit more than 95% of us, so 1 mil tax free, then normal allowances then 20% on the rest seems more than fair to me compared to zero concessions and 40% standard IHT.
King Charlie, then the hedge funds, And don't forget Cameron and the "Trust fund" set by his father revealed in the Panama/Pandora Papers?
Oh, and exempt *real farmers*, because we all like eating! ? ;)

Sounds more like you envy him personally, coz he's done better tax planning? :)

I'd agree that J Clarkson is there only to get some advertising for his shop/hobby farm/pub, and fauxrage is there because he cares only about the rich tax dodgers that this is mainly aimed at, although self promotion is also his goal.

I'm just thinking about the point I made above about survival rates.

It is noticeable that the USA has terrible survival rates and so do we. What do we both have in common which the other European countries have less of?

Woosh mentions it above - unhealthy life-style, and in particular obesity with its myriad of co-morbidities. The UK population, and more so the American one, are vastly too fat.
Oh, and jibbey jabbies.
USA has most, UK second, countries with least have least problems. Perhaps another correlation? ;)

I don't make enough to plan anything. Can you see clarkson fixing a bike? Or a PC? That's what I still do most days.

I agree that the likes of us don't accrue enough to justify the expense of these 'tax management' methods.

But since 'All Tax is Theft?
And most "Tax" money is wasted? (Esp in Ireland!?)
"Tax is the lifeblood of gov, but burdensome to the individual" Milton Friedman.

Maybe we should avoid what we can, to save the gov the moral peril from wasting it? :)

It's the 'they are not going to get my money after I die'.
What if everyone behaves the same way?
What if the same family conserves their wealth generation after generation like the royal family?
What if nobody wants to pay tax?
Now you're getting it, bravo!

Except for the royals, who didn't pay even their 10%.

10% from Everyone, Inc businesses, no allowances, no exceptions is my best guess at one 'fair' "UniTax", (copyright for ip rights, hehe :) )

I only made the point about his protesting has nothing to do with this inheritance tax is killing farming but rather self serving.
I watch a few times the life of young farmers on the BBC.
If people like him stop splashing their cash buying up the best farms and pushing prices up, the young farmers may have a better chance to buy their own farms.
That's the identical argument that would penalise you for owning two houses.

I suppose if not for the likes of Dyson, Clarkson and Fauxrages friends they probably wouldnt have to have gone down this road.
But the tax dodgers have forced the government to do it, which means its quite ironic Fauxrage and Clarkson being there.

But everyone else pays 40%, so the farmers are happy the public pays iht so they can pay nothing.
The asset rich/money poor owning multi million pound businesses insisting that the asset poor/cash poor public pay more than them.
