Plugging your phone into the Bosch Intuvia console

Has anyone actually done this?
I guess the less techy and phone shy among us might cringe at this, but I came across an interesting new android bike app which suggests it is better than all but the high end bike computers. It boasts multiple ant+ and Bluetooth monitoring to the level of the Garmin 810. Being a bit of a gadget freak I fancy trying it, but battery is an issue.. hence the connection question. Needs a fairly up to date phone that has ant+ built in to work and a micro usb cable for the Intuvia head connector, and also uploads to Strava etc..

Hi Phill, I use my galaxy note 3 and plug it into the use port on my Bosch powered bs10, it works a treat, got a cable off eBay for less than 2 quid. I have tried the i bike app and it is ok but i tend to use Endomondo as my main app now (although I still run strava at the same time) as the latest update gives you all your data on the lock screen which has made life so much better when wearing winter gloves.

Hi Martin,
Thanks for that. As it happens I already have one from another project which how I tested it.. I have found one on ebay that is a 30cm cable rather than an adapter. I can't wait for an e-bike shop to open up here.

Thanks for the info..
Strava is good but unfortunately it doesn't support ant+.. How do you mount the phone safely? Don't want to go over a pot hole and loose it!
Cheers

Just reading the manual.. Gopro recommend 1 watt power supply. Bosch USB gives out 500mA. What is likely to happen here... Will it just not charge or will it damage something.....
USB port is 5 volts x 0.5 amp (500 ma) = 2.5 watts.

I bought one of these,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROSWHEEL-BICYCLE-BIKE-IPHONE-NOTE-S3-HOLDER-CYCLE-FRAME-POUCH-BAG-CASE-/231029452377?pt=UK_SportGoods_CyclAcces_RL&var=&hash=item35ca6dae59
I have put it on my BS10 ,my Musso 29er and on a BH emotion e race it fits very securely and is roomy enough for sunglasses ,multi tool etc....
Endomondo supports ant+ ,I use it with my ant+ HRM and you can upload it directly to strava.

Bought one and its great so far. Leaving the screen on full brightness with a map on the display. My only issue is getting the cable in! The charging point is at the bottom of the phone which is where the lid hinges. how did you deal with that? I can cut a hole in the inner holder but dont want to stress the charging point! Oh, and it didnt smoke or bust into flames running the bike cam

I cut a small hole in the plastic sleeve and ran the cable down into the main compartment and out of the mp3 cable hole at the bottom of the bag. I have been caught in several downpours and no water has got in yet.
