Plugging your phone into the Bosch Intuvia console

Unfortunately that's another gadget I've already bought (I purchased the Garmin Virb for £74.99 as it's such a good price). But I really like the look of that one (which you recommended). Note to self: Ask on here before buying any more electric bike items!

Last night I had the fun of trying to find a bottle cage and a saddle bag. The Topeak Mondopack Hydro Saddle Bag seemed perfect - but turned out it won't fit on the saddle of my Cube (Reaction HPA Race 29) - yet ANOTHER purchase fail! So I bought a Cube saddle bag and a handle bar bottle mount (which will not doubt drive me mad)

I too have been down the road of buying the not so useful items and then regretting it..
After a few tries at saddlebags I decided to bin the cheap aldi and halfords bags and went to a bike shop to get a rack that would fit correctly and bought These.. The saddle bags were a bit pricey but well worth the money and fit securely to the rack and have Ample room for the odd top up shopping trip in one side and the winter waterproofs stay in the other. The central Black top bag carries my spare battery for longer runs, again amply supported by the rack, and the front frame mounted phone /storage bag has a clear slip in section for the phone and underneath is a compartment for all the batteries and other stuff that need easy access, including any charging cables which are easy to access.

The Rack also has a dedicated rear light mount so that is also now safe, secure and right where it needs to be.
It all makes the bike heavy but its only weight and after all we have help ..
The only thing I struggle with is a bottle mount..... So far it goes in the rack bags.
Most of this was bought on other members recommendations so I agree its best to ask first, or buy twice!!

Yes, we certainly do have "assistance" - in a fun way. But that was made veeeeeery clear in a negative way on the MTB forums, ha ha! (that was before I knew about this forum specifically for e-bike fans - I asked advice on my bike purchase and not one person agreed with the electric bike concept. They suggested we don't keep as fit - but we cycle for longer to make up for it - we go further and get to see more of this awesome country than they do!

I just hope my bike choice was wise as I had to make it all alone, ha ha!

My son (early 40's) refers to mine as "The Moped" but, when on a cycling holiday in the Alps he spotted a few e-bikes and has decided he might like to try one!!
You will get a few comments when you are out and about.. some positive and some negative... Especially if you have just destroyed a Strava segment..

Hee hee, this could be fun!

For me personally it will certainly get me fitter than a normal bike would have.... My method behind the madness is this: I will start off with assistance up "that hill" (a hill which I'd rather pour acid in my eyes than attempt otherwise - which meant if I had a "normal" bike, I'd have just not bothered even trying and the bike would have rotted in the garage while I sat eating cake). This way, I'm not scared of the hill - I get up it with "assistance" then I'll try it on a lower assistance setting, then lower and so on until there is no assistance. Without an e-bike I'd have just not bothered at all because I'd have collapsed at the top of the hill and wanted to go home. Proof (in my case at least) that it would get me fitter! (Of course I will have to be strict with ourselves and resist the urge to always have assistance on maximum setting!)

They are becoming more mainstream and "cooler" looking now, so I can see why your son is getting drawn in.

If you want to get a bit fitter, you've managed to buy the right bike.

The Bosch system makes you put some effort in.

However, the fitness gains will be nothing like they would be doing the same route on an ordinary push bike.

Your remark about eMTBs becoming more mainstream is correct.

On any view, your Cube is a decent piece of kit, but you should be prepared for some nasty remarks.

Frustrating, because your bike doesn't have enough power to do any trail damage, and is not fast enough to be a hazard to other cyclists.

When I get fitter I do intend on going back to the traditional method. But I'll certainly keep the e-bike. My partner has an illness similar to MS - so it could come in handy for the "good days" (would be interesting if anyone commented then - we could really make them feel guilty!)

Riding a quality, lightweight - mountain - bike in your case is a much nicer experience than riding a similar ebike - provided you are fit enough.

An ordinary mountain bike is easier to control and balance, and much easier if you have to negotiate obstructions such as restricting gates or steps.

Then there's the little things, not being able to use water bottle cages is one annoyance you've already identified.

Using a push bike is something to aim for, but in the meantime there's a lot of fun to be had on your Cube.

It wouldn't matter if you never went back to a push bike.

Cycling is supposed to be about freedom - you ride the bike you like when and where you like.

Unfortunately, some cyclists are too keen to impose their cycling practices on others.

It's great to see that you can run an android phone off of the Bosch Intuiva display but it still will not seem to drive any Apple iphones. Does any one know it this is a current issue, i.e. electrical and whether a software/firmware upgrade will fix this?

So, I have my Bosch cable.... Still not working!

This bike is brand new - but perhaps it is a problem with the Intuvia computer? I've tried my phone cable and Garmin Virb lead with it. Nothing.... Also - the Bosch cable goes off at the wrong angle (away from the bike) - so even if it DID work I would not be happy with it. Anyone got any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?

Tried to attach an image but it's saying broken URL - don't understand why I can't just search my computer and upload that way...

I had the option of right or left angle and it worked fton tha start. Looks like the experts gave seen this. . Hope it's fixed now.

Not had much luck have I? My new cycling shoes arrived today from a well known sports shop - they were used and dirty! My saddle bag didn't fit. Three attempts to make the bosch computer work with my phone (no luck). First time I used my pump I knocked all the air out of the tyre and the pump broke so had to order a new one before I can ride it. Couldn't adjust the seat post or remove the pedals to put new ones on (I think the Incredible Hulk put it together). Basically it's been a week and I'm only just about in a position to go out on it for the first time due to waiting on some essentials. But now I'm tied down with work. MEH!!
