I'm not that far from yourself actually, I stay in Cumbernauld and someone mentioned this place to me the other day, do you know if it's open on a Sunday?
I also see that you own a couple of kudos bikes, how do you find them to ride? Did you buy them directly? If so, how was the service? Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

According to their website, they're open 11 to 4 on a Sunday. If you're going through, it would be best to phone first to make sure he's there. The guy who runs it is brand new but he sometimes is out dropping off hire bikes at the Falkirk wheel or the Helix park.

Linlithgow isn't a bad place to hire a bike from. There's plenty of nice roads with hills to try it.

I do indeed have 2 Kudos bikes, one, the Tourer, I've had for 4 years. I love it. As to carrying it up 3 flights of stairs though. I've also got a Typhoon, more powerful than the Tourer, I've had that for just over a year. It's lighter than the Tourer but like any ebike it's not a featherlight carbon racing bike.

I bought them via Kudos direct. When I bought the first one, Kudos were just a new company. I've never regretted buying them. Kudos after sales has been great. As an example: The Tourer twist grip gear changer broke and I phoned them. Less than 24 hours after the call I received a new one through the door under warranty.

Hi there Jimod , went for a trip to Linlithgow today, happy to confirm that I tried a couple of bikes, the batribike granite and the batribike storm, both good bikes, well made, but I feel the granite is a bit too heavy, think it's down to the configuration, definitely don't like a battery on the back of the bike but it was a comfortable ride and the price was ok. The storm is a nice looking bike, probably about the same weight but feels lighter, more powerful, not as comfortable though but a good experience all the same. Too expensive for me tbh.
I agree the guy is brand new and helped a great deal, he says he's getting some Oxygen bikes in soon, so I might take another trip over sometime. Just thought I'd give you an update and say thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

I hope you missed the hailstones. I went through Linlithgow about 12ish and there were hailstones. At least you've now got an idea of what you want in an ebike.

Alan....the problem you have up in Scotland is the e-bike market is very small so any dealer that you approach will probably only have one brand and a limited choice of that brand.
If that brand doesn't suit you will end up with a poor opinion of e-bikes.
You really need to find a dealer who is multi-branded and that doesn't mean a logo on a website,it means bikes in stock,I think 20 is the minimum to offer choice. I don't know a dealer in Scotland who has such a choice but I am prepared to be advised otherwise.
So,you are left with a decision....do you take a gamble and buy off the Internet or do you travel to a location that has a good choice.
I do think you are offering yourself too much choice,you will become more confused and less focused.
A trip down to London would be the answer but the cost involved on a low value bike just don't add up. The Internet may be your only option,especially that your budget is low,but you do need to find a way of trying some different bike types.
In your position I would look for a powerful hub drive bike with a proven pedigree.

I absolutely agree and that's kinda why I'm trying to collect as much info, reviews, opinions and knowledge on these bikes as I can, also one of the reasons why my budget is low for my first venture into ebike territory, I don't want to spend a small fortune on what is ultimately a gamble. I can only really say what I like the look of, in the hope that someone else can say that they know more about the bike, have ridden it and give me their honest opinion on it. I know it's not the ideal way to go, but if I can get a few opinions on a couple of bikes then I can search for a local supplier or customer who owns one that would allow me to go for a test ride before I decide to buy.

Alan...Jimod is located near you....he has a Kudos Tourer and a Kudos Typhoon. The Tourer is the SWX type motor which is used on probably 50 per cent of less expensive e-bikes. The Typhoon has the BPM type motor,more powerful.
If you could get an opinion from Jimod on both those bikes it would point you in a direction. If the SWX motor does your job,the Vita Uno from the London Electric Bike Company at £599.00 is the one of the best value e-bikes around. If the BPM motor is your choice then the MTB series of Kudos or Ansmann,Cycleezee,KTM Panasonic,Oxygen are choices to look at.

I dont think they do , not sure what brands langs sell, bislands sell raleigh bikes , along with other high end bikes , dales in glasgow at dobies loan also sell high end ebikes , might be worth a visit just to try out sizes and compair the different type (hub crank ect)

Common problem, buying an ebike is not like buying a telly - or even an ordinary bike - where you can visit shops and view dozens of the things.

There are a few notable exceptions, a couple of which you have been directed to.

Unfortunately for you, the few shops with stock tend to be in the south of England, and they tend to keep the more expensive bikes.

Do you prefer the crank drive over the hub drive? I've never tried a Kudos eiger but i think the Typhoon will go up hills as good.

I am exactly in same situation as you are. did you manage to narrow down to a particular one? My preference was also similar as yours, like Burisch, Woosh Sirocco Sport-TS (going for £599 till tomorrow, 19 kg).

I know in this forum its already been discussed that for £1000 its not possible to get the best component. This is my first bike and £1000 would be a lot for me to spend, and would rather spend for a car LOL. So, I need to get something that I would be happy with for a quiet some time before this bike would give me a massive headache.

Another option i was considering is to buy OXYDrive for £499 and fit into my existing Saracen Urban Esc. But it can also be complicated when setting up as there is no instructional videos as such..

Ok, Lets get to the main discussion....
So I am leaning more towards Burisch in based on following features:

20.5KG (Manageable)
SR Suntour suspension forks
Adjustable handlebar stem
and the price £649
Although Website does not say any details of pedal assist & Throttle.

I badly wanted Oxygen Emate MTB, it was available for £999 on some websites but it seems OOS at all places.
