Thanks Mussels, De ver cycles are local to me and have a very good reputation, and I am sure they know better then me what to do...are you saying I should send the wheels to ETS or wisper as they will know better?
ETS and Wisper both did a lot of work on my problems, ETS involved SJS as they have experience of special use cycles. Your LBS will probably be fine but may not have the experience to do the best full rebuild if that's what you are thinking of. It's probably not a warranty item as loose spokes are a service thing but there's no harm in asking their opinion.

wisper warranty.... here we go again!

Have contacted ETS Cambridge where bike was purchased and he is contacting London branch to see if they can do it as I live in London... your bike gets a daily hammering lol mine a few times a week around the shops/libray/bank etc...weather permitting:rolleyes:

chap at Cambridge was very nice, but said it was like a car running out of oil not being covered by warranty, Mmm....I think they need to stress this more in user manual as I don't remember seeing anything (cant find it to check) it is obviously a problem with electric bikes.

update: Mike from ETS london has contacted me just now and recommended a rebuild like he did for mussels as this is a stronger solution on a better/stronger rim. But he is prevaricating re warranty! Grrr.... I went through this before purchasing and was given assurances from ETS and wisper that warranty was valid! I am prepared to pay for a stronger wheel.....

I alerted Russ as soon as this happened last night and as you see, the posts are being removed and the "member" concerned has been permanently banned.

Back on thread:)

I know Mussels has had a rebuild of his wheels due to on going problems. Any one else experiencing problems with 905SE wheels? as I know I am not the only one, to many warned me before I purchased including a dealer! So this is a well known problem.

I emailed wisper and they put me in touch with Dick who is in China! (wonders of the inter web lol) He is a nice guy and has offered to send me some spokes......How many I need & what I am to do with them God only knows as one has lost its nipple and a few others are loose and bent......

My Bike is 5 months old and has covered 398 miles and I think this is disgraceful in such an expensive product.

waiting for ETS to give me a price for a stronger wheel rebuild.....

You shouldn't reuse spokes as they are stressed during the build so you will need a full set, I don't know if normal Wisper spokes were used for my wheel - ETS should know. The 905 uses longer nipples as well so you'll need some of them, I've no idea if you can reuse those but I don't see why not.

Eddieo,
Your bike is under guarantee, the problem is not wear and tear. It is the responsibility of the dealer to sort it out - at no expense to yourself.
I,m amazed that Wisper need you to chase someone who is in China to progress what seems to be a well known problem!

You've tried the reasonable approach, there comes a time to say enough is enough!!

Exactly my point...5 months old, light use and 398 miles......

I was flabbergasted when I was shunned by wisper UK and they put in touch with "technical expert" in China. I wouldn't mind but this is a well documented problem and they have sorted out other members bikes gratis

I have read through both handbooks, wisper's and ETS plus the user manuals and no mention of spokes in maintenance schedule just "tyres, brakes nuts & bolts, suspension and body frame and all fasteners" .

Only wisper "maintenance schedule" mentions spoke adjustment, first check at 500 than at 4000! Kilometers .....

Don't know how they get away with it:rolleyes:

Deary me!

Hi Guys

Yes, we have had a few problems with rear wheel spokes needing adjustment in the past. HOWEVER, remember if the bike is under warranty any work will be undertaken and any parts replaced free of charge. This is a rare problem and has nothing to do with the strength of the wheels which are superb or the 13g stainess steel spokes!

Just to clear up the Chinese connection, I was out of town for a few days so I asked Dick Lai who is a full time Wisper employee to deal with this problem and send some spokes as that is what I thought was needed. I would never ask a customer to make contact with him in Shanghai.

If any one ever has a problem with their Wisper and are not getting 100% service from their dealer or us for that matter, please call me on my private mobile number, it is 07733 226906 and I will sort it out, even if you have bought it second hand.

I am taking bike to Mike at ETS (02074822892) London this Saturday.

Perhaps you can liaise with them as to taking some responsibility for cost.

David (wisper) Also to keep details on one thread I have answered your inquiry here....

It was purchased from ETS Cambridge in June this year (I have original receipts and credit card payment details) By Dave Rogers a member on here. I purchased from him in September after he advertised it in classified section of forum.

serial no: wisper 070321

if you really want to see it, again it will be with ETS from Saturday, who I must say have been very good....

Bike Warantee

Hi Ed

I am delighted that ETS have looked after you so well, as I say as long as the bike is still in waranty which it seems as it is there will not be a question of charges.

I have arranged to go to Cambridge next Thursday and will have a lokk at the bike then.

All the best David

Why so aggressive Ed?

I don't understand your apparent aggression here Ed, you say that ETS "have been very good" I have arranged to go to Cambridge to see the bike, now I see it's in London (I miised that in your posting) I will go to the London shop instead, I have said that the bike is covered by warranty and we will sort it out. How else can we help?

Re your comment "if you really want to see it, again it will be with ETS from Saturday" when I say I want to see the bike you don't need to worry, if I say I will do something I do it.

Maybe I am miss reading the situation and your style is short not your temper?

Anyhow don't worry we will look after you whatever the situation. :)

I have many hundreds of Wisper bikes being sold in 16 countries now. I head up the business worldwide and am the majority Wisper shareholder, however as I said this is a very rare situation for us, I have mentioned on previous postings I cannot stand having a Wisper customer on a bike that they are not delighted with, even if it was bought second hand. It is for this reason that I am personally involved and will go and inspect your bike and guarantee to resolve the spoke problem once and for all.

All the best David

I think you can't say fairer than that. I tip my hat to David Miall, if only all companies showed that level of commitment to customer care.

Hats off to David

David

I have no axe to grind as I received good service from 50Cycles when I purchased my bike from them; and CyclePoint have also gone out of their way (on one occasion literally) to help me. I think, with Ching and yourself, we have two fully involved manufacturers/suppliers who are a credit to ebiking (I am sure that others are also very good). I have read this thread with interest and, like other forum members, think "madness!, you go one step beyond" what is expected of you. I do not own a Wisper and think that my Ezee Forza is the best bike around, but I would have no hesitation in purchasing one of your bikes as I know I would receive first class after sales service!

I don't remember getting support like this from any other manufacturer, like eddieo I was very frustrated being off the road because of a (different) spoke problem. Even when the retailer had had enough* and wanted to offer me a credit note Wisper took the wheel and got it sorted out, I am pleased because I enjoy riding 40 miles a day on it and didn't want to try another brand.

*They put a lot of effort in and found the eventual solution but neither they or I wanted to spend a load of money on an uncertain fix.
