The Scott is probably something like the "lady bikes" on here :

E-Bike - SCOTT Sports

There's full frame geometry if you click on the relevant tab and likely to be pretty close to the one linked via the other thread.

... what's with the aversion to step-throughs ? My MTB is a bloke's but my Agattu is a step-through as sometimes the ladies borrow it. I happily ride that everywhere without feelings of inadequacy or shame ... including up to blokey bloke territory of gym and local industrial Estate !

In Europe loads of blokes ride step-through bikes which are family bikes. They are referred to there as 'unisex'.... so not sure why if guys ride them you're worried about having one instead of having a man's bike. Plus you're a girl - so now completely  lol.

The Bosch drive system is more or less the same on any bike, and it's more or less becoming the European standard for a good bike. The prices start from about £1500 if you want to import. After that, normal Uk prices start from about £1800. Scott are a high-end marque, and you can be sure that the bike will be well sorted. To me, the only question mark (assuming that price isn't a problem) is whether you can can get adequate support if something goes wrong, which is always going to be a problem in your location. If the you don't like the bike's riding pposition or if it doesn't fit you properly, you can always change the handlebars, stem, seat etc very cheaply with bits from Ebay.

The small frame is for people around 5ft 5" if you look at their size chart.

I think you really are confusing yourself, it might be better to stick to your short list and just go and try them out.
There is only so much you can learn by just visiting loads of different websites....therein lies the road to madness and confusion.......you need to go get your bum on one and test ride it.

was not confused for long Lyn!! I find myself much more informed and less confused in long run trust me.. It just that other people think I am rambling but I make perfect sense to myself strangely. Found the website with frame size and photo .. Only issue now methinks is the size is small which is on edge of my height.. i need a medium deffo.

Would people agree that the bike in photo below is a walk through?? seems almost normal that bar albeit slight anGle? You cannot walk through it anyhow????

Forgot link!! Soz

Damn it is an ugly beast the female versions!! if this is it 'yuk'...

Fahrradlagerverkauf.com | SCOTT E-Venture 30 Lady 2012 | Scott | bis 25 km/h
It will be one in that style. The listing is clear that the picture denotes the mens' version but the womens' has an 'open frame' like that one. So obviously you won't like it if it's mens' bikes only on your list. Just don't put a big rack bag on the back of the bike if you get a bloke's unless you're fit and exceptionally flexible... swinging your leg over the top of it when you get on and off is quite a feat ;).

The BB to top of seatpost tube length limits the min. leg reach (42cm) - but with an adjustable seatpost you can easily raise the saddle if you need to.

The top tube horizontal length is more important. There are plenty of sites showing how to measure your reach if you google. The small Scott is a 55cm top tube equivalent length.

If you look at their size guide for Solution frames 5' 5" (165cm) is bang in the middle of the range for the small frame. The minimum recommended height for a medium is 5' 7" (1m 70).

The top tube is simply dropped down and angled. Saves swinging your leg right over the seat and rear rack every time you get on and off the thing - you can just swing it through over the angled top tube. This is a common design now.

PS - just ring Hargreaves in the morning and ask them. They will soon tell you if the bike has the dropped top tube running parallel with the downtube rather than the photo you want it to be.

It says underneath that te actual bike is an open frame type, so I'm pretty sure that it's that "lady's" one that I just gave the link for. You could ask him to send you an actual picture of the bike.

thank you! Seems i may not be in a rush after all - I am going on strike!

I will ring them and find out if I don't give too many kids detention lunchtime to get 5 mins alone!! ;)

I do need to spend more time with measurements but need to acquire a measuring tape... am I strange that I don't have that sort of thing in my house?

Still struggling to find out much about this bike. Seems to be for sale in some websites without the correct image of ladies walkthrough or out of stock and no reviews anywhere in Google. I read Bosch's press release bumff from 2010 but since then diddly squat. They were yapping about partnering with Cannondale.. Are they also Scott??

In meantime any opinions on this bike ... Derailleurs? weight ofbbike.. how does this compare with your experiences ?p etc It is good value for having a Bosch in it and component parts but no real itty gritty stuff.....? Why no reviews? Was their venture into ebikes not succesful..

Will try to phone that company to ask for photo and check the specs......

There are quite alot of Bosch powered bikes and there are some good reviews for several of them. I am aware that there are alot of happy owners of bikes with this system on this forum. Although I am not sure if anyone has a Scott bike. There are alot of Bosch powered bikes out there so plenty of options.

Personally I would want the bike to weigh no more than 25kg including battery. My advice would be to try several bikes and see how you get on nothing beats a test ride! Good luck with the search!

Arghhhh.. Always 'argh'!

council emailed earlier sayin they do not allow electric bikes on the cycle to work scheme (argh x 1)
the bike place mail order place said they do not do cycle to work on mail order bikes (argh x 2)
The bike shop of same company said they do not deal with cycle to work on sale bikes (argh x 3)
The other bike shop of same company said the company only had one in stock all over (argh x 4)
The other cycle shop of same company said I cannot get it posted even in the box (argh x infinite times) but would have to go there to get it ie top of north Wales to bottom of England!! My vw camper does 300k. To £75!! Argh!!

BUT on good note the council replied saying yes I can (scare tactics!) and I can use it for EU eg Germany as long as invoice is inmsterling.

so my hope for the Scott is fast fading BUT one nice man from one of the stores is going to try again..

Triple dip recession eh?

That is annoying. We are members of CycleScheme and they allow people to purchase electric bikes through the scheme. One thing to note is all cycle schemes charge retailers a fair percentage so often shops will offer a better price if you pay by card/cash rather than purchasing through a cycle scheme. Another option could be getting 0% finance. Good luck

please feel free to let me know which Bosch bikes you have. And which you think are best for steep hills, lightest weight, no silly walkthrough frame and ideally under £1500 and can be delivered. MOh and cycle to work for £1000 and I pay rest. X. ideally that Scott ;) or similar quality and price?
