I ended up being persuaded by one of these - no matter if it's not as waterproof as claimed, I can fix that. I was mostly persuaded by the funky housing and the clamp. Also the possibility of shoehorning an MR16 into that - I expect more powerful MR16s will come out sooner or later and if the supplied unit breaks it will be easy to repair.
Yes, already fitted one of those. A bit groovy, not affected by damp so far. did use bit of the that blue locktite stuff on the locking ring etc though.

Thanks Old Dave - Will angle the other rear one downwards with a red lens fitted to it (ebay 99p lens repair plastic).

Gdread, could you post a link to the lens repair plastic please, I had a quick look and could not find any reasonably priced ones.

I ordered a couple of these and run a 3x cree XML beast from 1 of them

Stepdown Converter

Please note that the heatsinks get warm, and I therefore think these units will last longer than the lyen ones which appear to use the same chip without heatsinks (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Sent you a pm, johnamon.

But how bright is it..... Blue is kinda white'ish

I remember when blue bags made whites whiter.

And the really really bad news is that I ordered one as well, but did ask for white l

From what I've read, white LEDs are natively blue with a yellow phosphor coated over the die, so not easily done at home.

Lol....

Unless they are willing to sort it for free.. then replacing the leds may be cheaper option than the cost of the return postages

Maybe they sold all the white ones now ! Might have mine going spare - still can't test anything as aside from having hands full of graphite grease trying to get the blooming motor fixed I haven't yet tapped my battery supply with any cables to test lights off. Ordered 2 of those spotlights you linked that you put on your motorbike from Aliexpress at the beginning of the week.

Got to sit down and try to draw a wiring plan because I am still unclear how I'll get everything in the planned box, how many isolator switches I'm putting in, whether a Speedict needs inserting etc etc. and until I make the box and see where everything is going it's hard to know where along the supply lead to start splicing wires..... if I tap near the battery you can bet your bottom $ I'll find it was better to tap nearer the controller & v.v.

Not having my battery and controller in their final positions makes me reluctant to start messing about with the supply cables for product testing using connector block. Had hoped to be making my box this week and getting to grips with this but it's been about 10 hours+ working on the broken motor instead..

I got this strange reply from them - "if item not arrived by three weeks, tell us and we will replace or refund."
Does that mean I just tell them it's not arrived? Looks like it.

Anywhere will work... but just the same as the 'break' (sic) switch, do it at the most convenient place.
Lol. Thank heavens for a sense of humour, eh ?

I just found something in the drawer which would likely work in the same way as a beam diffuser lens for this light :

Eurolites Headlamp Beam Adaptors/ Beam Benders: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Just trim to size, slot in front of the LED retaining plate, screw the front of the light back on and away you go.

The pattern on the beam adaptor is the same as a diffuser lens (vertical stripes) so I expect it'll have a similar effect on beam output pattern (spreading). Just a case of how much light is actually lost / wasted if you fit it.

Well, I got the grey plastic bag this morning, already opened, without the light in it, tried to phone the sorting office, the phone rang for about 10 minutes, but no answer, bring back pigeon post. So if your thinking of buying one of these lights, BEWARE. I shall now e mail them and thank them for an empty plastic bag, hopefully I'll get a refund
