New eBike centre in Mold - Mold eTrails - featuring KTM bikes

Hi.

Thought we'd share this news.

Mold eTrails (great name we think!) is now up and running.

The guys behind the project have great experience of running tours on motorbikes and quads, and have now moved into eBikes. We're working closely with them, to offer a centre for people to test KTM bikes.

website is very new, as this is a very new project but will be expanding as we move into 2015.

Great news.....at last I can try out a fs e-mountain bike. Only about 1hr 20 mins drive from me, so looking forward to spending a day there in the new year.

They already have Macina Lycan's in stock, but will be getting more bikes in the new year so will hopefully have a good selection.

We're hoping our support for this venture will benefit our dealers and help end level consumers test bikes.

Its also a great venue we'll be using for our dealer training where possible next year.

They are different ... Which is better depends very much on the individual bikes you're comparing, and an individual's needs.

If you want to pick two bikes I can tell you why the Ktm might be better for you.

bmc, the comment was tongue in cheek, and to save derailing the thread, I'll save my opinion for another thread.

Try both, compare the spec, then compare the price on a like for like basis. I very much suspect that orange and black wins.

I absolutely love my KTM eLycan fs. I was just marvelling yesterday at how great the power delivery was that it gives me heaps of assistance when I need it but just feathers it in when I am doing delicate stuff so I still have wonderful control for fiddly bits. So a KTM with a Panasonic hub like mine is another option to consider as well as the crank drives available.

Check out the 'Off Road' section of the forum for ride reports about the KTMs owned by Eddie and I to get an idea of how we get on with ours. Also, please feel free to ask me any questions about my eLycan. I've covered 300 miles so far but a lot of that has been off-road and at trail centres so they've been rough miles mostly.

BMC, I have only just spotted your signature.

Assuming that you are a fan of hub drives, and don't fancy crank drive, then you can automatically rule out Haibikes, and look instead at Panasonic powered KTM eLycan P range.

You certainly wouldn't be disappointed, especially now that the battery size has been upgraded. From my albeit limited experience of them, they out perform the Bosch motor in respect of potential range, and are also less demanding to ride.

When funds permit, a Panasonic powered bike is on my wish list. Well that and a Canic CXC cyclo cross bike, but that really is just a dream.

Not sure what you mean by this.......can you elaborate ?

sorry... what I mean is - its not possible to say, one brand would be better for you than another than knowing a lot more about what you want the bike for and which bikes you're comparing.

For instance.. this KTM is amazing, but may not be better than certain HaiBikes for someones needs, especially if they are over 3 foot tall

I have a rear hub at the moment on my road bike, but from what I read, I get the impression that crank drive is better for steep of-road hills.

Try both a crank drive and hub drive. On the eRace P enjoy changing up the gears going up hill in 'high' keeping it in the powered 'torque' band but below the 15.5mph cutoff.

Eddie has had problems with chain jumping off the small chain ring on his KTM/Bosch bike.

Haibikes - and some others - have an extra jockey wheel to prevent that.

Hard to say how common Eddie's problem is, but if you are wanting to do proper mountain biking, a bike with the extra chain guide might be good idea.

No such problems with a hub motor, and lots of people like the Panasonic motor fitted to the KTM.

One thing in its favour is it has has a bigger battery than the Bosch equipped bikes.
