Hi, Wanting to treat myself to a new bike for my 70th birthday I have a shortlist of bikes and just added the Emotion Neo 29er.

Others are the Cytronex GT Transeo 1.0 Disc and the Kalkhoff Agattu C8 Impulse HS

Quite a variety I know. I only ride to keep myself amused, it is hilly and I have bridle paths and woodland to ride on but I need only assistance as I weaken with my advancing years.

Any ideas?

All are lovely systems, but i can only help you out with the Emotion Neo i'm afraid...

Should be getting the Neo 29er and Neo Jumper demonstrator bikes back in the shop as soon as the Telegraph has finished with them ( a week or Two apparently)....you are welcome to come and test ride them when we have them back in if you like.

Hi

would recommend trying a Bosch powered bike as well as Kalkhoff. I think the Neo is a nice bike and climbs well for a hub drive bike. Other than testing a few out it is worth considering what kind of range you need.

There are quite a few shows coming up where you can test bikes. Alternatively many dealers carry demo bikes across different areas of the country we are in Norfolk. So hopefully you will have someone near you who will let you try out a few different bikes.

I can second that Martin (Onbike) , I bought a AVE MH7 from you in September/October which has the Bosch drive system . Quite easily the most responsive ebike i have personally ridden , the Kalkhoff Aguttu i tried was very comfortable and gave good assistance but lacked the "verve" of the Bosch.
Alan happy testing !!

Glad you're enjoying your bikes Alan-definitely the 2 best 20" wheel ebikes on the market in my opinion-though obviously in very different ways(throttle/ Crank/folder etc.). Pop in for a brew and a chat when you're next passing by and i'll give the bikes a once over for you.

Be interested to hear how the Agattu Impulse compares to the Bosch on that Neo 29er rather than a 20". Is the 29er bike performance similar to the Neo Extrem etc ?

Yes,basically the same performance from the 29er as the extreme, as the motor and battery + controller are the same, but the bike spec is improved, and obviously the 29" wheels offer an advantage in rolling speed and comfort.
The one i'm really looking forward to is the Emotion Neo Volt(sport)...a 20" folder with the same motor etc. as the rest of the range... seems to be a proper little pocket rocket- not seen one in the flesh yet though!

Our new Kudos Ibex bike was very well received at the London Excell Cycle Show, the 60 Nm crank drive motor climbs hills well and the drive system is very quiet. If you PM me with a land address I will put a brochure and spec sheet in the post.

I know exactly what you mean NRG and I am just as guilty of touting as the next man.........or woman.

It would probably be better if this section, Which electric bike should I buy?
was a place where the trade could tout there wares, and the electric bicycles section where the trade can respond to direct questions about a particular brand, but that would require regulation, policing and everyone towing the line.

We also get a fair bit of touting from unofficial trade members.

As for Frank, he is just a shy guy;)

What about Hatti not seen a post from Woosh for a while ;). Nothing can beat a test ride though as everybody has their own preferences!

Well, Hatti is still here, spending the last day of holiday in sunny South Africa - so do not fear, I will be back posting regulalry from next week onwards!
BTW, Woosh can't offer you something for £2000 Im afraid but you might still be willing to consider our most expensive new model crank drive at £799.

Bye for now folks. Happy but tired, just done a train journey of 31 hours........
