Surely it can't be long before someone devises a drive system comprising of cheap generic Chinese hub motors, generic easy to repair or replace battery and control system, to power two or four wheels of a four wheeled family car/van, in the general form of a lightweight VW camper (which has the advantage of movable and removable seats to make a usefully shaped space for cargo), and uploads designs for an easily constructed chassis, 3D printable shell structure which can be covered with waterproof plywood/plastic panels; somehow made road legal as a four wheeled pedelec? Asking that it fold away into a cube too, might be asking too much.

You don't want to press that button accidentally while driving it.
I used to work for Recaro. As well as after-market seats, we made all the seat mechanisms for Ford, Rover, Jaguar and Vauxhall, including the electric ones with memory. Somebody came up with the brilliant idea of using the seat as an anti-theft device. If the car was hot wired or wrong key used, when the car started to move, the seat would move forward to trap the driver against the steering wheel so they couldn't steer and couldn't get out. After some lengthy consideration, the car companies rejected the idea on the grounds of safety. Shame!

Brilliant! That is what I would love to see on Youtube. Poor trapped Mercedes owners trying to call AA and begging to get them out of this predicament.

It is fun to travel with kids on passenger seat.
"- Daddy, daddy, what does this button do?"
"- It is an emergency eject button for passenger seat. Please don't touch"
;)

We were at a sculpture park leaving through an electric gate at the exit (quite some way from the park). A delivery driver had had to get out of his cab to open the gate. By the time he'd got back in the cab the gate decided it was time to close again, which it did over the cab door, trapping the driver.
