Legal /illegal debate - proposal for a better forum

The debate rages on and this absolutely valid

The views expounded are often forceful in both strength and length . This is equally valid

However, I do think there is a tendency to hijack/derail every thread

May I propose / suggest that we have a dedicated sticky thread devoted to this. After all the current situation ia set to remain till 2018 as a minimum

That thread can contain the debate which is great for other threads as well as the debate itself

The new sticky must be combined with a forum rule to do no more than signpost that thread .

I just want to keep the forum workable


. I do think the views and frequency of them are detracting the forum value

There is a debate, not on the legality but one on the morality, and it is one which just goes round and round so let it have its own place so the rest of us can ignore it.

I'm pretty new to this forum, but can the moderators not be asked to remove the content if it doesn't comply with forum rules? And possibly ban someone of they keep infringing?

Or is there an ignore feature?

In any case I don't want you to leave here, you probably have the support of the majority and are a valuable contributor!

I have to admit I'm one of the first to bite when these threads appear(my bike is not even dongled as I think there fast enough anyway for me in my advancing years) however I don't understand why they keep popping up every so often because at the end of the day it's all about choice if they want to go faster good luck to them and now we a dedicated forum for s-pedelecs and a sticky in regards to the legality of dongles etc which I think is a good thing and enough,but the moderators on this site need to act as well to delete the threads that cause the bickering and unfriendliness .

Everybody knows where I stand on issue, just don't think we should be openly discussing anything that puts our current priviliges to use pedelecs where ever we want.
( ie dongled or any illegal bikes)
On the forum issue folk should be allowed to express any opinion without being insulted , patronised etc. ( comments aimed at Morphix and myself were in some instances disgraceful)
I like forum but do think links to illegal products,adverts for such ; advice to deresteict bikes and posting of basically stupid behaviour are damaging to our fledgling identity ..
Being mocked as myself and Morphix were for having these views is at best immature.
Totally agree with Eddie, excellent post.
We are allowing a minority of posters to give a distorted image of our community, an image that could quite easily damage our position.

On a practical note..wonder if on rides section of mtb we,d be better starting a new thread for each new area.Use area name for thread title and after a while we,ll have a sort of guide for rides ( with incredible pictures on Eddie,s) The single thread is getting long....only a thought.

I would ay an lcd is smarter in that they have more power levels and therefore the possibility of better battery conservation

artstu, your bike does not stop you to ride any way you like, it's just programmed to be within the law.
By using a dongle, you are avoiding the necessary physical effort when going faster than 27kph.
If you want to go fast, by all means do that with your own steam, just don't involve the manufacturers and the bike shops in it.

My bike is as standard, I don't condone the use of high speed bikes, but appreciate why some would choose to do so, and understand the way they behave having ridden one. My comment stands that it has nothing to do with being lazy.
