Legal /illegal debate - proposal for a better forum

The debate rages on and this absolutely valid

The views expounded are often forceful in both strength and length . This is equally valid

However, I do think there is a tendency to hijack/derail every thread

May I propose / suggest that we have a dedicated sticky thread devoted to this. After all the current situation ia set to remain till 2018 as a minimum

That thread can contain the debate which is great for other threads as well as the debate itself

The new sticky must be combined with a forum rule to do no more than signpost that thread .

I just want to keep the forum workable

. I do think the views and frequency of them are detracting the forum value

Debate? What debate? People build/buy street legal ebikes and use them legally. People build/buy more powerful, faster ebikes that can only be legally used on private land with no public access. What is there to debate?
Did you read the OP?

I'm afraid this currently sums things up for me. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/emtb-owners-photo-and-ride-thread.24089/page-3#post-306098 I've had enough.

Content of the above link, shown as I shall 'hopefully' be deleting it later, before yet another thread is ruined.

"Soundwave I formally request that you no longer post within this thread.

I'm now a few posts away from quitting this forum, and being blunt, it is solely down to you de railing threads, posting links, offering no explanation of said links or adding reasoning for them, not respecting my wishes by harping on about illegal bikes, and actively encouraging and recommending the use of.

I'm now off to complete an approximate 50 mile mixed road/off road ride from Crowborough to Eastbourne for a family party, taking in some of the South Downs and any bridleways that I happen upon along the way, and would hope that when I next check in that you have removed the above, and just accept that I don't want you derailing what is meant to be a useful ride and photo thread. Debate this somewhere else if you wish, but not here. I'm fed up of it.

I come on here to chill and relax, hopefully encourage others to get out and ride, and with seemingly every post, you are preventing this.

I'm removing this post later, and would prefer that no one debate this subject within this thread, but continue to post relevant photos and ride details."

I'm pretty new to this forum, but can the moderators not be asked to remove the content if it doesn't comply with forum rules? And possibly ban someone of they keep infringing?

Or is there an ignore feature?

In any case I don't want you to leave here, you probably have the support of the majority and are a valuable contributor!

Have a good ride

I have to admit I'm one of the first to bite when these threads appear(my bike is not even dongled as I think there fast enough anyway for me in my advancing years) however I don't understand why they keep popping up every so often because at the end of the day it's all about choice if they want to go faster good luck to them and now we a dedicated forum for s-pedelecs and a sticky in regards to the legality of dongles etc which I think is a good thing and enough, but the moderators on this site need to act as well to delete the threads that cause the bickering and unfriendliness .

I hope that makes sense.

Everybody knows where I stand on issue, just don't think we should be openly discussing anything that puts our current priviliges to use pedelecs where ever we want.
( ie dongled or any illegal bikes)
On the forum issue folk should be allowed to express any opinion without being insulted , patronised etc. ( comments aimed at Morphix and myself were in some instances disgraceful)
I like forum but do think links to illegal products, adverts for such ; advice to deresteict bikes and posting of basically stupid behaviour are damaging to our fledgling identity ..
Being mocked as myself and Morphix were for having these views is at best immature.
Totally agree with Eddie, excellent post.
We are allowing a minority of posters to give a distorted image of our community, an image that could quite easily damage our position.

On a practical note..wonder if on rides section of mtb we,d be better starting a new thread for each new area.Use area name for thread title and after a while we,ll have a sort of guide for rides ( with incredible pictures on Eddie,s) The single thread is getting long....only a thought.

I hope you'll honour that in the future.

ETA. The forum will gain from such a stance I hope.

clueless tosh.

ETA, simply not true, a provocative deserves another.
artstu, your bike does not stop you to ride any way you like, it's just programmed to be within the law.
By using a dongle, you are avoiding the necessary physical effort when going faster than 27kph.
If you want to go fast, by all means do that with your own steam, just don't involve the manufacturers and the bike shops in it.

My bike is as standard, I don't condone the use of high speed bikes, but appreciate why some would choose to do so, and understand the way they behave having ridden one. My comment stands that it has nothing to do with being lazy.

how do you explain the reason why some members use a dongle if not to avoid the necessary physical effort when going over the speed limit?
