After the EU announced 37% anti dumping duty on Chinese-EU (incl U.K.) we stopped importing e-bikes and have slowly run our stocks down, about 200 bikes left.
We still have a good range, please look on Kudoscycles.com
Our prices are still at pre duty levels.
Our Kudos Secret bike was considered one of the best of the folders, the Kudos Mistral is one of the most torquey mountain bikes, still have some tradition Dutch bikes and the Kudos Stealth and Alamo electric sport bikes.
Not many left now and unfortunately no test rides available....for purchases use....sales@rallydesign.co.uk.....we can still PDI and courier delivery in the lockdown.
The best time to buy a bike.

What does this mean for the future of Kudos Bikes Dave , is it a case of building bike in the UK or EU ?

Hi, Thanks for the update - I had a quick look.

Feedback / comments :
Just for info, the website shows 3x *Sale* KTM "force" bikes, links for all say "item not found".
I've used Rally Design (the parent company?) in the past to buy good basic items at decent prices. I'm happy to use them again.

Hi
I have been looking for some time for a folding bike that will suit my very short stature and I think the Secret will be the best model for me (I am really not keen on commuting across London on a bike without being able to get both feet on the ground if needed!) I'm very keen to get hold of one and have sent an email to the Rally Design address.

The Kudos Secret was our best selling e bike. The seat post is dual height like a Brompton. The handlebars also have a wide range of adjustment to match.
The bike can be ridden by almost any height.
You will be able to put your feet flat on the ground,if that is what you wish.
Not much stock left now,we will not restock until after the virus has been eliminated.

Not sure,we were lucky not getting involved in the anti dumping duty tax, that
finished such companies as Freego.
We had a big range, maybe too big. I will not build in the U.K.,that would make bikes prohibitively expensive.
It may be that Boris may delete all import tariffs after January 2021,that would make bikes from China competitive again,it is ironic that the last batch of Chinese bikes we imported....the Mistral,Alamo,Stealth,Secret were the best bikes.
At the moment we are running down our stocks, the virus has stimulated an interest in all bikes, when a model is exhausted it is not currently being replaced.
Our performance auto parts business is booming, customers maintaining their race cars rather than using them,my staff are working split shift to maintain distancing rules.

I looked into your site only yesterday and noticed the out of stock models, but also some excellent value prices on what you do still have.

Good to learn the car side is still healthy despite the lockdown, could get even better as the public realise all the car showrooms will be open again from tomorrow.

Dave, I am looking at your website and interested in your ebikes. You state that when a model is exhausted it is not currently being replaced, would I then have an issue in obtaining another battery? Thanks

David LW....thank you for your question....the batteries are not unique to any one model, for example the Samsung clip in battery is fitted to the Stealth,Alamo,Sprint and Mistral model. Kudos is not exiting selling e-bikes,we are having a breather whilst our government makes up its mind whether anti dumping duties will not be replaced by a government version in January 2021. It appears that e-bikes will only be subject to 6% tariff, but nothing is certain with this government.
We are into single numbers of many of our best selling models,as I say with the current uncertainty I will not reorder exhausted models, but in the meantime they are good value for money.

Flecc, good to be back on this forum and talk with you again.
I know you have history in the auto industry. You may be interested in our very succesful helical geared lsd differentials,we are up to over 50 applications with thousands in use, many in classic vehicles such as Escort RS,Jaguar,MGB,BMW...they make the traction of a 2 wd close to a 4 wd-it has occupied a lot of my time , but I am now starting to look again at e-bikes,there are certainly some exciting new models available from China,at very attractive prices but government/HMRC won’t make its mind whether they will create a ‘level playing field’ with the EU post January 21,which I suspect will involve the prohibitive 37% anti dumping duty, which protects the Italian and German bike industries.

Thanks Dave, good to know LSDs are getting a classic car showing, they've been largely ignored in the recent 4WD trend. And of course the e-car trend to having twin motors looks like bringing to an end any mechanical 4WDs in cars and light vans etc., possibly LSDs too.

I can sympathise on the e-bike issue, it was almost a miracle that we were able to push the re-established Northern Ireland Assembly into passing pedelec law into force there during Brexit and Covid-19.

Hi. I have been trying to get in touch with kudos Cycles for some support. I purchased a Kudos Secret bike last year and it has developed a fault where the motor is cutting in and out sporadically. I would like to know how I can get the issue diagnosed and fixed. There is just a 'no-ones here' message on phone number from the website. I am now worried that I won't be able to get support if there is no stock. Do you have spare parts if needed? What is the best way to contact support?

Sounds like your issue might be the PAS/pedal sensor on the under side of the bike. Up turn your bike and look for the magnet disc between the chain ring and bike frame/bottom bracket, the disc should be firmly fitted to the crank axle and you should not be able to move/turn it by hand and it should laterally move across the axle . Also you will see a wired sensor head make sure the gap between it and the magnet disc is about 1mm, if need be manoeuvre the sensor head closer.

I initially wanted to buy from them, but had no response to a few emails, and calling was a waste of time, so just gave up. Good luck getting issue resolved.

If you still need to contact them, try through parent company Rallye Design by email. This is currently the message on the RD website:

"I am pleased to advise that we are back to full staffing levels at Rally Design. However to maintain social distancing our trade sales shop remains closed. Our telephone sales operation will also regrettably have to stay closed down for some time – the best way to contact Rally Design is by email, using sales@rallydesign.co.uk. David Elderfield, Managing Director."

Thank you so much for the advice- I have had a tweak around and it was moving around. It seems to be working again now so its definitely something to do with that so whether I have fixed or not at least I know roughly what the problem is.

If the magnet disc is a bit loose then you need to secure it better on the BB axle, the tangs on the disc can brake or loose their grip so removing the crank/chain wheel and then the disc to allow a few wraps of amalgamating tape on the bb axle should do it then press the disc back on to it firmly. Or one can opt to thorough degrease the bb axle and epoxy the disc to it from both sides.
