Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

At long last, I've ordered the motor & controller, etc. I'm now considering going straight to 48v and so I'd be grateful for battery advice, please.

Thanks AK, but can you enlighten me? Does that make one better than the other, or simply offer different characteristics?

The Samsung is designed for long life and so has a low discharge rate of 2.75 A and 8.75 peak and in 5P it is a 12.5 Ah battery in reality.

The LG is a 5.2 A continuous discharge cell with a 10 A peak so won't sag as much on the hills.

29E fairs a bit better then the MG1, the only real world graph I've seen for MG1 was on ES.
Generally SAM's are a better bet then LG's
MG1 although 10a rated is a poor medium rated cell, voltage and ah crashes/sags terribly above 5 -6amps, though delivers good mah at low amp draw.

OK, so hauling around 100kg (trike + me) with a Q128C (201/260 rpm 36v running at 48v) in a 20" wheel, what sort of continuous & peak discharge rates should I be looking at? As I've said before, most of my riding will be on no more than gentle inclines, but I'd like to be able to tackle the odd steep hill (Thinking of a favourite route in Wales - up to 7% for a couple of miles). The motor would (hopefully!) be doing about 75% of the work.

you don't need much to tackle 7% gradient with 100kg weight.
That Q128C running at 48V 260 RPM on 20" wheel, I'd guess 15A so any decent cell would do it unless you want to ride at higher than the legal speed limit.

Depends on the controller amp rating, though invariably if only using say in pas 3 then amps draw will be approx 40-45% of the max rated amp draw.

A 48v system with 15a controller is capable of putting out 720w average and at 20a 960w, on a fully charged battery a bit more 780w & 1040w.

The more cells in parallel then the better they share the amp load.
Tops cells are Panasonic GA, Sam 30Q, Sony VTC6 & LG MJ1 for 3000 - 3500mah 10-15 amp rating.
For higher amp rated cells then 2500mah cells are Sam 25R (Green), LG HE2 & Sony VCT5A.
