With equal respect, Paul's is a perfectly fair point. As evidenced on this thread, people have indeed paid the full price to more than one company (including 50cycles) and it is perfectly reasonable to question what would happen if the company went bust. It seems that SimonHutt has provided an answer and I, for one, now know something I didn't. That is what this forum is all about.I respectfully disgree Frank. Paul's comment was factually incorrect and another thinly disguised attack on 50cycles. I don't believe it was a general follow-on comment developing a theme, it was just another side-swipe at 50cycles making unsubstantiated claims. I agree 50cycles should not have protective status - currently it has anything but that - but also it is crucial that if forum members are to complain about companies that they at least get their facts right.
Well Frank, this bit "do they really need the full purchase price surely a deposit should be ok" No, they don't need the full purchase price - a deposit will do - if indeed he is talking about 50cycles. If he was talking about another company then I stand corrected. What, specifically, in Paul's message was incorrect?

It was a question. Now answered. It would be rather odd if we all had to get the facts before asking a question.Well Frank, this bit "do they really need the full purchase price surely a deposit should be ok" No, they don't need the full purchase price - a deposit will do - if indeed he is talking about 50cycles. If he was talking about another company then I stand corrected.
They said thisWhat company did this? If it is 50cycles you are talking about then they said on this forum that the would hold prices on Kalkoff's for people who had ordered them already not that they would never increase the price. Again - facts wrong.
Thanks for the friendly welcome. This place is really stuck up dudeThis topic should move here http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/1886-problems-suppliers-customer-service-issues.html where anyone can winge rightly or wrongly till their heart is content----- or not!

I am sorry - clearly you have no idea what you are talking about Frank. I'll leave it that as I have no wish to have some tit-for-tat internet argument with you over nothing of great importance.Agreed - You made a fair point, on topic.
Belated welcome and please, John, Robert and others, we mustn't try to dumb down the forum by trying to bundle anything non-bland into a dump thread that no-one reads! That thread is for specific issues that customers and suppliers might have with eachother - so clearly Dufus' post doesn't belong there, but here.
I didn't try to accuse you - I did accuse you. Anyway, I will not "attack" your observations again as you are clearly a delicate soul who takes it personally. Say whatever you like, in whatever forum you want, about whoever you want . Frank et al will be sure to back you up regardless.Following on from my last post when citrus tried to accuse me of attacks on some company and how we must post facts, what if you paid by a normal debit card or handed cash over, usually when ordering something just a name and telephone number is adequate or sometimes a small deposit,i see no reason for any company to ask for full payment before delivery or pick up,especially if it is an in demand item,if it was something of a one off unlikely to be sold to anybody else item it would be understandable.also i still would rather hear your bike will be here in two months at the earliest, than be told your bike will be here in two months, the first statement would make you very happy if your bike arrived within two months the second would make you angry if your bike did not arrive in two months , lets hope my observations are not attacked this time, these are only observations and i do not in any way shape or form say they are facts,ps sorry if ive posted in the wrong section again.
