It would seem that casual bike theft happens a lot and as bikes are particularly mobile a thief can soon outrun a bikes owner who is on foot and giving chase. E-bikes are even more susceptible as the power gives them a big advantage over a pursuer and I have heard several stories where a bike was left for only a few seconds when someone just simply rode it away in full view of the owner.
If on the other hand an e-Bike needed a simple key to make it work a thief would be stuck in treacle and wouldn't be able to ride very far at any speed so in some cases could be caught....
Just a thought..
