Just clocked that I'm staying at the below overnight on my way down to Switzerland.

It would be rude not to go out for a relaxing evening play in the local woodland. :)

I might have to contact this lad to see if he lives in the area and ask if he could show me some of the routes. I've driven through the area few times, and the scenery is fantastic, but being able to ride it should be brilliant fun.

If I can find the exact location, might also take another little detour the next day, but haven't run that past my much better other half. ;)

I'm already getting impatient, and just want to go. I've spent a bit of this evening buying/adding a few more spares to the already comprehensive list that I always carry. It's going to be a long five week wait. :(

Went out for a ride this am and covered 53km/33m on road and off road on the Cube BBS. A few teething problems to sort out, only 2 miles in the chain snapped I had previously added 6 links so may have not fitted a link pin correctly, luckily my cheapo Chinese multitool with chain link remover proved in valuable and saved the day ( must remember to add a dozen spare chain links to my bike kit), the magnets for the brake cuts offs moved I had used an Araldite product but this didn't hold them to well so need to find something better to glue them on with and finally on the homeward journey one of the Hayes 9 HDB's dumped its fluid from the lever as one of the master cylinder bleed plugs let go, I will repair and reprime the lever/system but in time I may well replace them with a set of Shimano's BR445/6 or BR395/396 which work superbly on my other bikes. The wide comfy saddle was not as comfy as it looks so this will be swapped over to the Charge.
On the plus side the BBS(now over 1k miles)worked well smoother and less of a raging bull which the pas on the Oxydrive cst can be when going offroad also the throttle and power response felt better, with 9 levels of pas on the BBS lcd its easier to select to go up or down depending on the extra power you need. Battery wise the BBS is better with battery consumption the usb 15ah battery still had 2 of the 4 battery indicators showing on the lcd after the 33miles where as the OXY's battery is empty after 25 miles.

ed i got a bit of a problem, i got the spanner today and changed over the sprocket to the 19t but when around 1820 mph and over seems the motor is grinding inside? or thats what it feel like.

looks like the sprocket is a bit thinner than the haibike one so bit closer to the inside when i slide it on is all that i can think is making the motor not happy with it.

Much as I like a clean drive train, yours looks a bit dry so worth trying some chain lube.

The new sprocket may have messed up the line to the idler sprocket, although I would be surprised if that made much difference.

I take it you are using one of the smaller cogs at the back to achieve the speed.

This also puts the chain line out from straight.

Worth trying the bike at a high cadence in whichever gear it is that gives the straightest chain line.

i did lube the chain after that pic but made no difference tbh but it just dont feel right as something is out of sync.

i put the old 1 back on and its fine now but the gap between the sprocket and the motor is double that of the 19t sprocket. as that is near touching the inside of the motor when it was on and thus getting the grinding feeling from the motor.

it might be that i need a washer in the idler sprocket so it can move tho i dont know ill stick it back on tomorrow n take some more pics.

Just to add to what Rob has already said, is there a possibility that you had knocked the plastic cases, and that it was just a rubbing or even a simple resonance noise from the casing?
When you re-fitted the 16T, the cases might have then settled back into place without you even noticing.

If it makes the same noise tomorrow, remove the cases altogether and then ride the bike.

i dont think it was the case rubbing as i felt it when peddling above 18mph like it was grinding the bearings or something.

but ill take the case off in try it again anyway and take some pics.

thanks for the help ;)

Finding my (electric) wheels

We have just started doing off road tours of forest trails and tracks in the Isle of Man.
We use the Bergamont Roxtar 8.0 for the tours. Bosch performance line motor with manitou marvel air sprung forks. , shimano SLX 10 speed drive train and hydraulic Shimano BR-M506 disc brakes as standard.

image.jpg

We have started an electric bike business called Green Wheels in the Isle of Man. Not sure if I'm allowed to add website but will do www.greenwheels.im

The more people try the electric bikes the more they will start to catch on. I just love it!:)

No idea I'm afraid.

I Hardly ever use or need turbo, and just generally use either no assist, eco, or tour. Even doing this, it's a struggle to sometimes get past the mid thirties.

If I use sport or turbo, I guess that would probably kill the battery after 20 miles of riding.

Mine says 81 in Eco and have managed 66 miles on Eco then cranked up to high for about 5 miles and still had 11 ish miles on Eco after I got home

i should get 30-40 miles then if i try keep it in tour/ sport for up hill then with out dongle that is.

wish i had another batt now to compare with and with out dongle batt usage in diff modes.
