Aha! Like my cheapo powerbank (which still works after being rained on for over two weeks, needed thorough drying out though), it probably contains cheap crappy Chinese cells of greatly exaggerated capacity. I changed my mind and ordered the headlight linked below instead, to solder to my battery - I have two "1800LM" headlights so far... + this "6000LM" = 9600 alleged lumens, if I find a way to fit all three. I would get a longer handlebar than my present 580mm, if I could be certain it wouldn't impede my bike's folding. This one
Can you get your money back as it is not as described?FYI for anyone considering buying this 6000LM headlight - it only works at 12V! Not "12V to 80V" as described on Aliexpress! Bit of a bummer, because I now have to buy a step down converter ... I don't have any other 36V power supply other than my ebike battery, so I only found out after soldering everything together. I should have tested it using my ebike battery charger. Works fine at 12V.
Very irritating.

The seller wanted me to send him video evidence. He said "The highest tester in my office is 30V", sent me a photo of it connected to his bench power supply. Disputed that it doesn't work at 36V. I told him that I'm not soldering this bloody light back onto my bike AGAIN, just to send him a video. I told him testing before sending products out is his job, not mine. Opening a Paypal case. Can you get your money back as it is not as described?
Aliexpress are very good with refunds, but the process is a bit weird. You go through several stages where you have to say you want the money refunded, then you get it.I mean... why send me a video of it tested at 30V not 36V? Surely a big seller like that would have a power supply capable of 36V? After I had soldered this light on, and it didn't work, I tested continuity etc. of my soldering and it was fine (did have to run to Asda to get a new 9V PP3 for the multimeter, battery died partway through testing, didn't have enough juice for the continuity check, display faded away at that setting). That's when I cut it off the bike and connected it to a 12V power supply, and saw that it wasn't a dud after all. I've never had to claim a refund from AliExpress before. 2 out of my total of 3 purchases have not gone well. He's refused to refund. I've opened a Paypal case, let's see what happens.
Besides, the light featured in his video tested at 30V isn't necessarily the same light I was sent. The switch supplied with it doesn't look waterproof to me, using that thing is asking for trouble.
I'm using Paypal to bypass AliExpress's weirdness. On AliExpress, it's impossible to request a refund using the button links, without uploading a video - I had to open a chat window with the seller to demand a refund. I have been unable to find a way to report this fraudulent listing... so I made a report and sent it using the "Report dangerous prohibited substances" or somesuch button. I'm not too fussed, it's less than £15 in total. I'll make this light red, to use on the back of my bike trailer via a step down DC converter. I'm annoyed at this seller for screwing about and wasting my time. Punishment refundity revenge will be mine! (possibly).Aliexpress are very good with refunds, but the process is a bit weird. How does the current adjustment work?Do you have to dip into an app and scroll through a lot of menus? My battery's BMS is limited to 22A. I have no idea how much current these lights are using (haven't measured them), but they haven't blown the inline 3A microblade fuse, therefore they must be using less than that. Despite this, to be prudent I have lowered the controller current limit from 19A to 18A. Levels 7, 8 and 9 are for heavy hill hauling, and faster uphill getaways.

I'll shout "BOOST!" for level 7, "BOOST! BOOOST!" when engaging level 8 and "BOOST! BOOOST! BOOOOST! AAAARRRGGGHHHH! DIE MERRY FUNSTERS DIE!!!" at level 9.I'd like to have a big red button on the handlebars, marked "BOOST", ready for emergencies
Bafang's communication protocol for their BBSXX(X) series was cracked some years ago. The scope of the settings available in the configurators is quite wide. Toseven's in-display similar-looking version doesn't appear to have as many options. The Bafang configurators patch values, rather than overwrite firmware wholesale:How does the current adjustment work?Do you have to dip into an app and scroll through a lot of menus?
I don't know what you're doing, but it was simpler than that when I did it a couple of months back. The weirdness was just the repetitiveness of the process. I had to do the same thing three times, each time after the seller oftered me a zero refund. After the third one, Aliexpress gave me the money back.I'm using Paypal to bypass AliExpress's weirdness. They tried to grind you down, but you persisted beyond their wildest expectations to claim your prize. I don't work for the seller. There's no way I'm making and uploading a video, that seller has wasted enough of my time. I had a chat with the seller, and warned him that I would open a Paypal case if he didn't give me back my money. I opened a case as soon as he refused to refund me, uploaded the transcript, photos of the box, and linked his fraudulent listing.
