Sorry, I know this question is done to death. I have looked at so many bikes and all I'm doing is confusing myself so I need the help and advice from experts. My budget is £1000, I'm 5'4", quite overweight but do cycle a bit and ride horses so not completely unfit. However I've just been diagnosed with kidney disease and also have pernicious anaemia which is making me exhausted so just haven't got the energy to cycle the 5 miles or so to the farm where I keep my horse which is why I'm looking to purchase an electric bike. I'm leaning towards a Roodog or the Carrera Crossfire as I already have the Crossfire 'normal' bike but any advice and recommendations would be very welcome. Thank you.

Not two persons' needs are completely same, so it's good that you ask questions.
Your height is about average, but because you said yourself that you are quite overweight, so I would suggest you look at the woosh Santana2.
This bike has a large motor which will give you about 30% more help with going up hills ,a twist and go throttle that will help you starting off easily at traffic lights, suspension, good Avid disc brakes and a 13AH battery, 30% moore that the one on the Crossfire.

Bagpuss.....would you consider a small wheeled e-bike,the Kudos Secret carries my 100 kilos up very steep hills, with a minimum range of 20 miles.
Tomorrow I will load the next batch of Kudos bikes onto this forum with photos, the Sprint would do your job or if you fancy something fun and sexy what about the Milano/Verona or for real fun the Miami beach racer.
All these bikes are less than £1000,many considerably less.
Electric bikes can be fun and not expensive.
A good dealer ,Fosse Electric Bikes of Fosse,Leicester.

I am considering all options at the moment. All I want is to be able to get to the farm, about a 10-15m round trip, country lanes, a very busy B road and farm track but got to admit I do want something that looks good, can't help it, it's the show off in me ;-)
