Have a look at the main fuse on the battery to see if it's blown.

Did the panel get visibly damaged in the fall?

Although this panel looks different, I've got a feeling that it works the same. If you can, follow the wire all the way to the controller to see its connector, it might be interchangeable if there's four wires.

Do not try to straighten your brake lever cold. It'll break before it moves much because it will have work-hardened at the bend. You have to heat it to nearly red hot,let it cool down and you'll find that it bends easily for a bit and then stops. You then have to repeat that process until it's back to where it should be.

We took the controller apart, there is power going in but the lights don't come on, it wasn't cracked or anything but looked a bit discoloured. Do you think a new controller is the answer? My one has 4 wires going from it.

What are you calling the controller? There's the display panel on the handlebars and the controller near the battery. I think your talking about the display panel. How much power is there? My reckoning says that there must be a 36v from the battery and a return 36v to the controller when it's switched on.This wire will activate the controller. There must be a 0v wire (normally black), so the last one must be the pedal assist level to the controller. It would be good if you could figure out which is which and then replacement would be easy - hopefully.

Yes, it's the Schwinn display, the one in the middle, so I guess the 980 would be the right replacement. 24v.

Success!! Finally the electronic display arrived for my Schwinn Tailwind, Chris my wonderful husband and hero has wired it up and I'm back on the bike. Have been sharing my son's regular cycle for the last couple of months, so it's great to have my own wheels again. Don't know really what caused the problem, should electric bikes be kept indoors out of damp conditions? Mine usually lives in the shed, and I would use it in drizzly conditions.. Many thanks to all for your help.
