The terrain that I tend to ride at night time doesn't allow for a helmet light, unless side mounted which I have tried but didn't like. There are just too many low hanging trees and branches, and the helmet usually takes a knock or so per ride. My Camelbak has also pulled me off the bike twice when it became hooked whilst ducking under a low hanging branch.Eddie,
I bought an exposure joystick head torch and its so light, excuse the pun, that you don't notice it. It's fab and i attached the small red light onto the back of it. Great beam for spotting deer at night in local woods.
I also bought the Garmin 820 and always carry my phone. I feel safer as if i crash the Garmin info's the missus via call and gps. Mind you, not sure if she'd rescue me.
I do some bike packing overnight and night rides like yourself. When you cycle alone, you have to be prepared. I found a rider 2 years ago that had crashed and couldn't move. Called ambulance and forestry opened gates to rescue him. Learn from that i thought!
Yep. A personal EPIRB (PLB) or Sattellite Tracker / Communicator such as the Spot GPS or Delorme InReach is a wise choice if there's a chance that you'll be riding where there's no mobile phone coverage and especially if riding alone.Personal EPIRBs are now about £180. More rugged than phone and work anywhere in world.
Could have done without the mud as well. When its this muddy, i either don't clean bike each time or wait till it dries out. This is mean mtbingAnother night, and another ride.
Out with my mate for our weekly ride out. Could of done without the rain and fog, but still brilliant being out.
and without the mud. That's dedication for you.

I also came across an area that I will have to go back when conditions improve, to try to get some better photos.

One of my pet hates.. Forgetting to clean and dry my overshoes, then having to put them on still wet and muddy from the last ride.

Very pretty stable you have there, and very colour coordinatedOne of my mates mucking about on his Levo.
Sadly not ebike related, but I did spend pleasant few hours out on the Ultra 1964 today, to complete more trail building work.

Ebike related..
I made zero effort to make this look neat or tidy, as I have another use on the next bike for it, and it could be wrapped around the battery rather than the frame as well, but I have come across a 'tight wad' version of a neoprene battery cover, or Levo owners battery/frame cover.

All for the hefty price of £2.49 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231653722930?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Any joking aside, on something like the Levo, this could actually prove a neat and tidy solution for protecting the battery area. Two of them would be ideal, and they can be cut to length, so could be made to look very tidy.
your new bike!Luckily I seem to have the cleaning down to a fine art now, so interim cleaning only takes a few minutes. Fork Juice is a wonderful thing for preventing mud from staying on the bike when washed.
As for being colour coordinated, there could soon be a clash of colour.![]()
