was very surprised to see several beech trees blocking my path on the local ride that I did last week.
I'm guessing that the weather must have been bad whilst I was away?
I'm actually longing for bad weather and mud to make riding conditions interesting and fun again. I kind of find it pretty dull at this time of the year. I'm missing the rain mud. :(
The beech was a baby compared to the one I came across and pictured in the old off road thread also looking forward to mud and bog as after reviewing winter tyres have a Conti der Baron coming for the front and a Maxxis Medusa for the rear. Not wanting to just follow your lead with the Toro's thought about trying something different, however was nearly tempted with a pair of Mad Mary's which have rave reviews one Mtbr and Bikr Radar.

Is that using the Big Bear kit?
BBS01 with new 250w controller reprogrammed ( came with some strange settings ) now done about 250 mles, currently set for 14a but will try it at 16a. My old 350w controller I smoked at 1650 miles, I never got to see the settings so can't say for sure what happened but was using a lot of throttle at the time so think it wa set for speed control rather then current and start current was probably to high.
P.s Sorry for going off track a bit.

Checked the ODO reading this morning 87.2 miles, however I think the C961 over reads by approx 5% so nearly 83 miles.

Nealh, it will be interesting to find out how you get on with the tyre choice. :)

I can't currently ever see me switching away from Hutchinson tyres, and the trick is to buy them when discounted. Not an easy thing to do, and I'm always looking.

What I hate is riding on tarmac with them, as you can just watch the pound signs disappearing along with the tread. Dedicated off road tyres are also unnecessarily noisy, drag, and are un pleasant to use on the road. The Toros are reasonably good in that respect, but not the DZO's.

Tyre choice is always a tough one, but I really can't grasp why people often seemingly choose a very aggressive down hill tyre, then spend 99% of the time just riding on roads and hard packed tracks.

It was way too hot this afternoon to even think about heading off to the South Downs for a ride, so instead it was decided to just do a short local ride.

it dont matter what tyre i use i can still over take every body :p

tho id not put dirty dans on my bike just no point and wear out fast no matter what you use them on.

only reason i have a sg tyre on the rear is the side walls are thicker and as yet not managed to rip it off the rim with 23 psi in it.;)

What a stunning location. Very nice. :)

Both bikes were out were taken out for a play today, as the guy that bought the Macina Fun ladies bike from me, now wants to buy a Bosch powered hardtail eMTB as well.

I need very little persuasion when it comes to going out for a play. :)

Two outings in the same day, can't be bad. :)

I had hoped that it might have rained tonight, but it sadly stayed dry. I did manage to find some mud to ride through, albeit very unexpectedly, and deeper than I had first thought.
If I can get away with it, I'll be heading out for another night ride tomorrow, whilst trying to make the most of the Bank Holiday weekend.

I guess that it is sad, but I actually really look forward to evening/night riding again. :)

I was thinking about it earlier, and I ride roughly 2,000 miles a year in the dark. It actually gives me more freedom to ride where I like, without the routine hassle and grief that walkers and horse riders give.
For some reason, all of the walkers slowly start to hibernate from here on in, and good job to. :)
