Morning all. Recently been offered a used (not stolen) Xiongying electric mountain bike. Firstly what's the general opinion of them and secondly where can I get a user manual from.
Cheers all SRB

Have replied to verification email. Is this question live or still pending? Strange that there's no replies. Please advise. Thanks

It's still live. If you want help, you'll have to give us some clues. I haven't heard - and I doubt many others here - will have heard of the brand. Many Chinese factories churn out "fodder" e-bikes in high quantity, which several entrepreneurial types will brand with a name of their choosing and import a few containers worth for a quick buck.

That's not to damn Xiongying - whoever they may be. Many of these generic Chinese e-bikes are built using generic, cheap and often easily fixed/replaced components, so as an entry level option it might work for you.

Post a link to the bike you're thinking of... some may recognise either it or the components used. There's a high probability that the same bike is available with several brand names. At least someone may recognise what it actually is and then be able to proffer an opinion.

I'm new on here. Can't see any photos. How do I see them? Where do I find them?

Think I've found it. There's only one pic of a red bike. If that is /was yours then mine isn't yours I'm afraid. Mine is black. Hope you get yours back soon mate.

Firstly what's the general opinion of them and secondly where can I get a user manual from.
Unfortunately many of the cheaper end bikes its a case of you get what you pay for, and the components on them are the bottom end, which usually means they dont have any longevity to them. Cheaply made so can break more easily and getting spares and parts is so difficult, its a case of just buy that part complete.

With the above i mean the components such as wheels, brakes, drivetrain etc. The motor and battery and its component parts you need to look for identifying marks- manufacturer etc and then look for their own website where you can find a manual.
I've taken a look, but cant find any specific info.

Problem is this make isnt well known in the general uk ebike market, and thats probably why you got an inquiry from another user who had theirs nicked.
Its understandable to have someone join a site asking about an obscure bike, of the same type the user had pinched, so no need to fly off the handle and think thats an accusation, its an understandable action.
eg My bike is the only one of this particular Scott model in Scotland. Now imagine i had it stolen, and someone came into one of the ebike forums im on asking questions about that speccific bike, its only natural i would question them, looking to get identifying id off them. Human nature i would think.

As to your queries. Many here, especially with this type of bike - hub motor, battery etc have a great deal of knowledge concerning issues they face, breakages and all, so having specific questions concerning the motor make, the battery make, the controller or display make you will get more info that way.

Hi Andybike. Firstly thank you for the detailed info you have written. Much appreciated. Not sure tho how you thought I was flying off the handle. I was merely asking for info and reviews of a bike I'd not owned before and then offered constructive help to a guy who sadly has had his bike stolen. I thought after a lengthy chat with one or two others chipping in with less than helpful comments that I would leave the thread. Hopefully I can offer help to others in future posts. Anyone else with reviews on this make of bike will be much appreciated and thanks again Andybike.
