Then there may be some pick and mixing of what she has been charged with. There is a possibility of walking from the lot but then again it is a Magistrates Court so you never know.

The speed limit is adjusted like you do with most LCDs. I doubt that she could have figured that out or even thought of derestricting it herself. The only thing is if she had a son or husband that also uses it. I can't read that Daily Mail article. Is it clear yet whether the bike was derestricted or not? I wonder if the police just lifted the wheel off the ground, and it overshot, just like any ebike would. I wish I were there to defend her, assuming that the bike hadn't been tapered with.

Formula-1-inspired carbon electric skateboard shoots riders up to 45 mph
"Manufactured by Australian startup Radium Performance, the Mach One delivers 8,000 watts via two rear-wheel motors which take it from 0 to 30 mph (48 km/h) in a claimed three seconds.

Those motors are also part of what is reportedly "the world's first torque vectoring system on an electric skateboard." In a nutshell, this setup automatically delivers more power to whichever wheel has more weight over it in a turn. According to Radium, doing so increases traction, allowing riders to power out of corners earlier."

Not convinced. How do you pedal that thing with such small wheels? Maybe the half mast trousers help.

Surely can't be long until a "250W rated" pedelec super eSUV/lorry crossover twice the size becomes available to buy. With free shorts. I really hope so, can't wait.

That's the same daft selfish argument as many on this forum spouted, "We want riding EAPCs to be just like riding a non assisted bike". In that case, get an ordinary bicycle and leave electric ones to us.
I wonder is there perchance a German manufacturer that already has all this technology ready to go?

Definitely sounds like when an ebiker and Pedestrian come into contact, the ebiker will *automatically* be considered liable? :-/
Be careful when publishing Irish requirements here.

In the UK a driving licence IS required for L1e-A:

L1e-A Classification:
L1e-A vehicles are type-approved low-powered mopeds, which are generally restricted to 1,000W and 25kph (15.5 mph).

  • Licence Requirements:
To legally ride an L1e-A on public roads, you'll need a valid provisional licence or an AM-category licence.

  • CBT:
If you don't have a full driving licence or an AM-category licence, you will likely need to complete a CBT course to ride an L1e-A.

  • Other Requirements:
In addition to a licence and potentially CBT, L1e-A vehicles also require registration, insurance, a number plate, and the wearing of a motorcycle helmet.

True, true, the clue would be in the *Irish* newspaper origin of the post though. Would like 1000W, y :)

Likewise, in the UK I would be able to ride a Motor Trike if the front wheels were more than a certain distance apart. But if they were any closer, it would require a motorbike licence.

And in the Philippines, I think i would need a motorbike licence even to ride a 50cc moped.
But they never bother with anything that weak!
Different strokes for different folks..

Eyesight rules for motorists unsafe, says coroner
An inquest into the deaths of four people killed by drivers with failing eyesight has found enforcement of visual legal standards for motorists is "ineffective and unsafe".
"He labelled the licensing system as the "laxest in Europe" as he pointed out the UK was one of only three countries to rely upon self-reporting of visual conditions affecting the ability to drive."
