E-scooters blamed for big jump in children caught in UK driving without insurance
"The charity called on the government to act to reduce insurance costs for young drivers by introducing a zero-rate of insurance premium tax (IPT) on policies where licence holders under the age of 25 have completed an “approved driving or riding course”, and to create a Young Drivers Taskforce within the Department for Transport (DfT)."

Y, a motor scooter rather than an ebike, but it is a Conversion of a classic. Good or bad? Pity the battery takes up the rack space. No passenger! :cool:

Who's going to be first? You can get 60aH 72v LifePO4 batteries for about £350. I have the idea that you might be able to cut the top and bottom off the fuel tank and use them as adapters welded to one of these:

That's about £1000 all up for the conversion that should give a range of about 80 miles.

Would love to know which buttons you're pressing, on that link I'm seeing £718 delivered, presumably novice pricing!

Speaking for myself, a conversion of a Honda Motocompo folder would be ideal, if possible with that 3000W kit.

Honda make an Electric Motocompo folder. But it's pathetically slow, *if* one believes the test they did?
Wheels are too small, and no pedals to make it legal anyway.

Did they rig the test?

A sit down folding electric scoot in a bag would be better? Still not legal though, If it has a seat.
An Electric Brompton with basket and cover is always gonna beat them for legality, fold, carry, and the rest! :)

This was Honda's original Step Compo from 20 years ago. It too was quite slow, 12 mph tops;
