Hi!

My e-bike kit has just came , but the battery hasn’t. I checked and the battery is supposed to come in a long time, but the battery is 48v 16ah for the kit. I have a. 48v 13ah at home, and I was wondering if I can use that for the temporary without any “fires” that my mum is worried about because she thinks it is “mix and matching”. a 48v bat is a 48v batt the ah is the storage capacity so 16ah 3 more than 13 so go a bit further.

as above its what the controllers amps is set to but if one works then the other will be fine if wired the same way round

Controller

It'll be OK provided that your battery is rated to provide 15A, which nearly all are. If you've already been using it with a 15A or higher controller, it'll be fine. The only thing that matters is the current.

As @Nealh says you have to check the max current rating of the controller is less than the battery max continuous rating -and leave a (5 amp ? ) safety margin

yes 30a would be pushing it more speed more amps.

my bosch batt is rated for 20a discharge rate non stop

Yeah I have a 48v battery 13ah so I think I’ll be good just less range

13ah is the capacity, the battery will also have a max continuous current rating, but it will be more than 15a so you will be ok

So many don't understand controller current ratings and battery discharge ratings , then they totally get it all wrong because they have little idea what battery AH is and think the latter is the same.
