its not that them rotors will get hot fast and melt the disc pads, you want 2 part ones like on my bike.

you will down hill on the road ;)

i managed to get my brakes very, very hot on the descent and the rather budget-looking rotors were shrieking like banshees. I didn’t suffer any loss of stopping power, but at least one (rather heavier) journalist on the same ride did, suggesting that bigger rotors or improved cooling of the brakes would be no bad thing

Well cleaned up the road bike and bunged it on ebay. Sold in an hour so I am on the road to an electric road bike.
Got the mavic wheels on now and the electric scott mtb is going the lbs tomorrow for a PX offer and test ride the giant.
Also have a spare battery (Chinese copy classic 300w ish) so if dealer doesn't want it how do I post it if I sell on ebay?
There are restriction now which might make it a hassle...

I looked at the BH Revo range at my LBS. Talked P/x on my Wisper....such a derisory offer that I'd rather give it to a friend/relative than P/x it. It actually put me off the shop, I'd rather they had just said we don't do P/x than offer me pennies.

Been to Ilkley cycles to test ride the giant road e+2.
This was straight out of the box so the display was still in km but not to worry
First impressions of the yamaha system was really good and as I set of in the lowest assist I couldn't feel the drive giving up at 25kmh , in fact I peddled it up to 40 (25mph) without too much trouble and ran out of gears on the small front ring, but didn't bother changing up to the big ring. I switched to the second power mode and was again impressed by the smooth delivery and transition from powered to unpowered .
The feel of the bike was solid on the road and I felt much more at ease among traffic than I did on my normal road bike and also noted how quiet it seemed, but traffic was fairly heavy which tends to mask noise.

SOLD

Taking SW's comments on braking into account I suspect on downhills this bike could indeed become a guided misile and the cable discs on this bike might be a worry so have ordered the +1 which has an uprated braking system.
They offered me £650 for the Scott in PX.
So. Looking for a buyer for my Chinese 300w battery

Phil,

Your new bike has Shimano hydraulic discs which are excellent.

I will be very surprised if you find they lack stopping power.

It's still a relatively heavy bike, so you can use the back brake more than you would on a lightweight roadie.

Although braking should still be heavily biased towards the front.

If you find you lack stopping power at the front, a bigger rotor would be a sensible and fairly cheap upgrade.

I'd have gone for the +1 too, those Spyre brakes on the +2 are even lacking bite on a bike half the weight. Shimano pads improve them.

I shall look forward to seeing how you get on, the speed above the assist speed seems extremely positive.

and as Rob says I bet the brakes will be fine for you.

It would seem that the yamaha motor is paired with a Giant electronic system

Is the +1 the blue or the white model. I'm attracted to this one too.

Random video there SW. As the bike rolls so well above assist speed there's no need to modify it.
