Dodgy Ebay Listing

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The seller is angry, but not angry enough to travel half way accross the country to do something. It would be different if you lived next door or had kidnapped his daughter.

I don't think that Ebay will be particularly bothered about goods of dubious origin. An investigation costs them money.

It is more cost effective for them to refund buyers who are mis-sold items. They will have enough statistical data to estimate what percentage of their revenue will be consumed by refunds and the percentage will be very small. The refund cost will be contained within everyones PayPal, Listing and Seller's fees.

Ginger Tom (Sir Winsor) said only yesterday that in future the police are going to be dealing less with low level crime and concentrating on the crimes that matter more to people. He mentioned theft and low level dishonesty as being crimes which matter less to people than assault. I'm not sure who he has been speaking to, but apparently this is what we want.

It would have been The Treasury. They decide what we can afford to want and advise we should be told to want just that.

i find this a bit of a moral dilemma - clearly none of us can right all(or even many) wrongs, but it grates to stand by as we all seem to do increasingly in this lovely brave new capitalist UK and do only what we absolutely have to while ever so carefully and narcissistically looking after number one

Yes good, calm, realistic advice from Dave. Its easy to over worry this stuff (I know I use to do it alot in the past myself) and the guy is highly unlikely to expose himself given he is hiding behind a fake ebay account.

I sent him an email yesterday,asking if i could pick the bike up today if i won the auction,he did reply postage only due to the value of the bike,im now asking for a buy it now price as i was outbid,and it looks like somebody got carried away with the bidding,the kind of thing i would guess this guy is hoping for a mug punter.i await the offer of a steal of a price with some dodgy payment method,lets see.

Just to clarify my initial reason for creating this post was to ensure that no one was duped into purchasing the bike. I did not expect others to work on my behalf in reporting it, or get involved in spurious bids which has led to them being worried about this dubious character.

Having said that, I think it was helpful to report the listing jointly to ebay and the other lists it was posted on. It is a shame that ebay have not taken stronger action, maybe at least removing the user account. I have reported this new listing several times again to ebay.

On reflection perhaps I should have placed the post in the stolen section rather than the main post listing.
