Hey Martin - just had another idea..... does it matter that there would be a 23t cog on that racing cassette - because I wont be going over 15mph anyway when I am ever using that cog - to doesn't that mean it wont matter with it and the dongle seeing as the dongle doesn't cut in till you're doing 15+.... Or will it still be a problem?

In fact - next time I got up the hill to the village I will see exactly what the lowest gear I need - I may not even need anything lower than a 21t - in which case I see there are racing 11t-23t (11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-21-23) - and I could set the deraillier so it wont go to the final lowest cog - providing the 21t will get me up the hill to the village. I will try it tomorrow and let you know. Plus those cogs are considerably cheaper than the shimano xt mountain bike ones..... wink wink hint hint.

See here!

Hi James,

Why not go with a 11-25t Official Shimano one and save yourself 7 pounds? I dont see any benefit really of dropping to the 11-23t. You'll end up losing a climbing gear with very similar ratios in between anyway.

Or you could SLOOOOOOOWW down! ;) Especially with that little dog sat in the front!

I can get this to work, best bet drop me an email closer to the time as this forum thread is full of you talking to yourself ;)

& yes the 23t will be a problem, so best rule it out all together. Ill have to check sprocketry on the Shimano ones to make sure we get something compatible.
