It might be because my e bike is only two weeks old but I've been out for two fun rides. Once it was cold and clear the second time it was blowing a gale and soaking wet. Both times it was fun!

Back on the commute tomorrow too

Don't tempt me. If I had the money spare I would, if only to try to generate some income for the bike shop. :)

It might have worked well for me today though. :)

There already!

A fitting title for today's short ride on the Ultra 1964. It was a choice of stay at home whining about a bad back, whilst looking out of the window at the sleet and rain, or get off off my backside and ride. In the scheme of things it wasn't a long ride at 17 miles, but it was yet another of those rides that made you so glad to be out.
I've completed this ride many times on the e-mtb, and have also ridden it on the Ultra on three occasions. It has three lengthy drags, two of which have previously seen me slip into the granny ring to complete. Not today though, my poor breathing technique aside, the climbs were seemingly effortless, and I seemed to spend the whole ride, looking back at the climbs, rather than looking towards them defeated before the start.

I have no idea why this photo keeps going upside down!

I also put in one last short road climb before turning back downhill for home, and without knowing it, managed to pull off a sixth fastest Strava time, out of 931 riders. A very pleasant way to finish a ride.

And they say that an e-bike makes you fat and lazy!
I have just been reading about fat and lazy, apparently when your body carries too much fat it convinces your brain to make the hills look steeper to stop you attempting excessive exercise. ..

Yesterday I hooked the trailer up and went fishing, I have never fished during the month of February in the four years I have lived here - always either snow, storms, water too cold or dirty. I just got back from finishing the bait I didn't use yesterday out of the wind and in short sleeves.

Oh and this morning I did a quick dash to Irun and back to grab some stuff. 25 kmh average speed and heading towards the 2500 km mark. The bike is performing so much better now that the temperatures are back up it is really noticeable, quite amazing!

Enjoyed a really good ride out today- For leisure and research really...wanted to see how much mileage I could get out of my 18month old Bosch 400wh battery, and it seemed like a good excuse for a ride on a sunny (but very cold) day.
I did a similar route to last year-into Birmingham and back by canal and road.
It ended up being 55 miles on one charge in Eco setting all the way on a Bosch Performance set-up, taking in about 2,500 ft of climbing.
Again, the expected range was Bang on, and I arrived at home about 10 foot after the battery packed up!

I've changed the tyres to Big Ben's running at high pressure, and made it more comfortable for hard surfaces( Bar ends/Gel saddle/18 tooth sprocket)
Legs are aching a bit, but I've pulled my back (again!) lifting the bike to chin height over a gate that didn't open enough to squeeze through.

The tyres were fantastic on tarmac and hard pack- they really rolled well and offered plenty of confidence to "Go for it", but really scary in the Mud on the Towpaths- Lots of snaking around and near misses made for quite a technical ride in certain areas....
Found the Nyon Display great throughout -Got it set up to show lots of fun info such as Torque, elevation, watts,Calories burned etc.
Plus the map proved useful too once the GPS refound it's signal!
Strava, Sports Tracker and the Nyon itself all showed slightly different stats...Sports Tracker seems to double up on the Ascent/Descent for some reason, but seems to do this consistently- maybe i'm missing something there?

And here is nicely described one of the few downsides of an electric bike.... On occasion I have had to lift the bike over an obstacle, and even as a fit pensioner it can be difficult..
