Am I the only one to find Eddios cheap shots on anything he doesn't like rather distasteful..
If we don't believe in freedom of expression for all, then we don't believe in it at all.

What always surprises me is how people expect something that costs very little should be so reliable.
I understand that money constraints are an important factor on choice.
For me, and I am probably one of the unlucky ones . Whenever I buy cheap I buy thrice.
Hence I would prefer to deal with a recognised supplier, not just in bikes but everything.
Believe me some items I have bought have been expensive rubbish, but I have no trouble in getting refunds.

Yes, price constraints. In an ideal world we would all be able to buy three of the best available, but in practice, for all but a few people - that would be impossible.

Speaking personally, I have never had an electric bike not made by a reputable company. The problems I have had are in the condition not being quite as described (not always - just sometimes)

The bike I have had the recent issue with was subject to price constraints. It was bought for another person who simply could not afford to buy new. So a reconditioned model seemed the obvious solution, rather than to buy a dubious make never before heard of.

As stated by Cakey, the problem was in not dealing with a recognised supplier. It is a mistake that I will not repeat. I trusted someone who proved himself to be untrustworthy. As the old saying goes.....Buyer Beware.

But it didn't cost John very little Cakey, he paid around half the new price for that cheap bike with dud batteries, so net of battery cost, over half price. At that price and several years old he could reasonably expect it to be in working order other than the batteries. In the car world for example, for about half price one gets a three year old in perfect as-new working order with a new MOT, not a broken down one with multiple faults.

Despite Eddieo's typically brusque responses he is right in this instance. The most sensible course of action for the OP to take is to go to the small claims court and sue the seller under the Sale of Goods Act - naming the seller on here will be ineffective.

Before embarking on that course he should send a Notice Before Action letter to the seller informing him of his intentions and giving him a chance (e.g. seven days) to settle the matter before court action. I am pretty sure he would win in court even if the seller decided to risk it ( mind you he may still not pay up and be happy with a CCJ against him - but I doubt it if he wants to remain in business).

Apologies, I was referring to John A's situation - not the OP. Confusion arising from reading John A's original thread as well.

no need for apology, the 2 threads have got jumbled up somewhat, with some including me talking at cross purposes. this is why I removed last few posts.....shame others haven't the gumption to do likewise. But a certain party is only concerned with own agenda....

Hi All

Thanks for all the replies concerning the batteries on our electric bikes.

They have now been tested and found to be under - performing, due to not being kept topped up before use when we first bought them last November, if you remember the weather was particularly cold for a considerable time. I freely admit that my bike did not even come out of the box until after Christmas. So it seems the problems with the batteries were unknowingly at the time caused by us.

Pro Rider Mobility have been really supportive and have offered to replace the batteries free of charge and we can't thank them enough for being so generous.

So all's well that ends well, many thanks to Pro rider Mobility for all the help and support you have given us.

They now offer a one year guarantee on the batteries and yes they do keep them correctly. I went into it with them in some detail when I had the bikes from them along with an electric wheelchair.
Incidentally the exact same bikes and spares can be found at 'Vulcan-Bike Elektro-Fahrräder'

Hi would like to update my experience with pro rider it seems that there as been a missunderstanding
On bothe sides and after a phone call with the M D of the company he sorted it out to bothe sides as he did not want even one unsatisfied customer witch I did appear to be. So alls well they ends well so they say
All has been resolved

Maybe it's just because it's late but I just read the whole of this thread and am now entirely confused. When I studied for O levels there were pocket guides (Cliff notes?) - I think this thread needs one!

Its what can happen when old threads are resurrected.....normally by someone with an axe to grind
